Never Ending Maze Novels & Stories

Deciding to turn left and search for his scent, I follow along the corridor until I come to a dead end. “Of course,” I mumble to myself before turning around. As I do I notice the walls shifting and changing. My eyes grow wide with fear. How will I find my way back out? Adeline quietly coaches me in my brain, telling me that we need to find a way to escape, and I know that she is right. This maze was made so it would be impossible for someone to find their fated mate. But why would Alexander do this? What would he have to gain from keeping us from our fated mates?

What if that’s where Bonnie was and she needed help? He shook his head. He’d just be in the way over there. He could only imagine the current chaos at the entrance. Today was pick-up and drop-off day. New kids were arriving while some stayed for another week. It meant that the parking area was always full of cars and kids. If there was an accident or a delay, it always turned into a disaster. Instead, he decided to walk along the far path behind the garage. It was on the eastern edge of the property and usually quiet. Since the East entrance was gated off from the road, the only person he’d ever seen over here was Bonnie the night she’d arrived.

It commented and a tab appears on the mind space. Mind space is the place where I first came here, a white endless room with only this black and ball-shaped system, and my presence exists. "Selected item: Selene's information. Total points: 500 Continue to redeem? Yes or No?" I take a deep breath before choosing the word yes. The points are meant to use anyway. Pity me, assuring and comforting myself. I didn't have to wait any longer as my mind was filled with a lot of information from the system.

Our task: reach the summit before sunset while carrying supplies, signaling our progress to the observers. The maze was treacherous. Sharp rocks, sudden drops, and narrow ledges forced every step to be precise. Daren slipped once, and instinctively, I reached for him, steadying him while keeping our momentum. Liora’s eyes were fixed on a distant marker, calculating the shortest route while avoiding traps. The bond pulsed, guiding my focus, alerting me to subtle shifts in the terrain and the presence of hidden dangers.

I say “No absolutely not we won’t be stepping foot in your pack, let’s go you two” she says before opening a portal again and they all disappear into it. She’s gone before any of us can protest and that’s when I realize I don’t even know my mates name. She may think she has gotten rid of us but little does she know… we don’t back down from a challenge. Saint stands up after finally managing to get himself untied and looks at me. “We aren’t giving up on her right?” He asks.

Her strides weren’t as powerful compared to when we started running. Her breathing had turned rough and uneven like she’s about to pass out. And the tunnel— The damn tunnel never ended. Turn after turn. Dark passage after dark passage. No windows. No light. No signs of life. Just endless stones and the sound of death chasing us. Where were we even going? What if this was another maze? What if we ran in circles until Leah collapsed and that freak peeled us off the floor? What if… No. I shut my eyes inside myself and prayed harder than I had in years.

I didn’t even know where I was running to anymore. I just kept running through the endless hallways, my feet carrying me toward a destination I couldn’t even identify. Everything around me looked unfamiliar, confusing, almost endless. The mansion was too large, too complicated, like a maze specifically built to trap people inside forever. But I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop.

“It’s not over…” The void pulsed ominously, and the last words of the system echoed around her: The final choice has been made… but the game is eternal.

My stomach lurched violently. "Let's keep moving," I gritted out, turning away from the horrific sight and toward another archway on the far side of the courtyard. The maze punished us for our choice. We encountered a staircase that looped back on itself no matter which direction we climbed. A bridge that extended further the more we walked across it. A room filled with identical doors, each leading to a different point in the maze we'd already passed. At one point, we found Mara kneeling over Lissa's unconscious form near a patch of suspiciously red mushrooms.
