Never Lie Summary Novels & Stories

Dylan asked. "What" Lucas frowns. "Yeah" Jack nods. "OK that's enough. Guys Me and Liz are not dating and neither are Jonah and Riles" Zach announced. "What" They all say together except the 4 of us who are guilty. "Yeah. I lied. I lied to all of you. I mean you guys have girlfriends and then comes me. The single one, I didn't wanna be the 4th wheel so I told Liiza to be my fake girlfriend but then she lied about Riles also having a boyfriend which is why we called Jonah to help us. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have lied" He sighs.

“Never seen it before.” Lisa’s smile was polite, but I could read the tension in the set of her shoulders. She was already filing the answer away, making deductions about everything and asking more questions. Like why Heritage would choose to lie, why she even answered instead of just shaking her head and other questions I probably hadn't thought of yet. Either way, Heri was lying like someone who had spent her life perfecting the skill, which was scary in itself. “Ok ok ladies. I'll have to go now. Don't miss me too much.” I muttered as I exited the room.

He's pushing me to the edge, why is he even so eager to hear the answer to his question. "Someone you don't know, even if I tell you his name, you don't know him either, so what's the point?" I bit my tongue, this is the biggest lie I've ever told and I hope neither I nor Daniel get hurt soon because of this. Contrary to my expected reaction, Darius' response to what I said was a small laugh, "Do you think I will believe your lie, I can tell you lying." He walks closer to me, “why do you keep lying to me?”

"If you ever try to protect me by hiding the truth again—I’ll cut you out. Completely." He gave a solemn nod. "Understood." Later that night, Natalie sat in Lily’s room, reading a bedtime story. Her daughter nestled close, half-asleep, the calm in Natalie’s otherwise stormy world. "Mommy," Lily mumbled. "Why do people lie?" Natalie paused. "Because they’re scared. Or selfish. Or sometimes, they think it’s the only way to protect someone." Lily blinked up at her. "But you don’t lie."

Tabitha innocently asked between bites of roast and garlic potatoes. Layla immediately turned red from embarrassment. She was always an honest person but ever since she went along with Alistar's lie, the dishonesty snowballed into an avalanche of deceit. It was difficult to keep up with all the lies she had to tell to cover for him and his lies. She was flustered and panicked but after six years, she couldn't do it anymore. So instead she told the truth, "he doesn't have." "Oh?" Tabitha responded. Layla could hear the tone of judgment in her voice, Tabitha did not hide it well.

Hesitantly, I took it, checking if what he was saying was true. I searched online about what happened, and he wasn't lying. Everyone was looking for me. People were mad at me. I even saw interviews with Orion's parents and his friends. I was about to click on one when he gently took the phone from my hand. I don't know why I couldn't cry, maybe it was exhaustion? My heart just ached, and I wanted to disappear for a while. I didn't know what to do. And now, I was stuck with this stranger who joked about being obsessed with me, even though I'd never truly met or seen him before. Maybe I saw him somewhere, but I'm sure we never talked before!

I think they bought that lie. “So in a nutshell, the first engagement the pact said is on between you two.” Jake says. “Something like that.” I sip my drink, hiding my frustration. I'm not a good liar; my clothes are almost soaked from sweat from just telling a few lies. How do those that tell lies for a living survive? “Our guy is engaged!” Jake and Joe chorus while clapping and cheering with their wine cups. “Keep your voices low, guys. Have you forgotten we are in Evergreen?”

His voice remains calm. Controlled. That somehow makes it worse. I stare out the glass windows of my office. The city stretches endlessly below. Busy. Loud. Alive. Meanwhile my heart suddenly feels too loud inside my chest. “You left,” I say quietly. Another pause. Then— “I did.” No excuses. No lies. No attempt to deny it. And somehow that annoys me even more. “You don’t get points for honesty now.” “I know that too.” God. Why does he sound like this?

In court, faced with the mountain of evidence, Louis was deathly pale. In order to avoid paying damages, he actually stated outright that the proposal was completed independently by Flora, and that the plagiarism was her personal action, having nothing to do with the firm. Sitting in the plaintiff's seat, I watched coldly as he pushed all the blame onto Flora. This was the man I had loved for ten years. When things went wrong, his first reaction was to shirk responsibility and save his own skin. But even so, he still faced a massive penalty.

"Who hit my sister?" The crowd fell silent. All the color drained from Viola's face. Her lips trembled, and a muffled whimper escaped her. Aaron's expression shifted from anger to confusion, then to terror. "That's impossible. How could she be..." He suddenly looked at me, his eyes red. "Eve, why didn't you tell me?!" He stepped forward and tried to take my hand. Even his voice changed. "Eve, I made a mistake! She lied to me! She kept turning me against you! I never wanted to break up with you!"
