I answered dismissively, walking away with my head held high. I will not cry. I will not cry. I will not look back. I will not look back. I kept repeating these words like a mantra. I nod confidently. At this moment, I promise myself that I will never return to this place ever again and never look back at those people who stooped so low and hurt me.

I face forward and I tell myself the light was strange and I am tired and tired eyes make mistakes. I do not look back at the photo. I should have looked back at the photo.

The light turned green, and we walked forward with the crowd. I never looked back.
