Without hesitation, I pointed the gun at Fiona, but it wasn’t to kill her; it was to create an illusion because I had spotted John trying to make his way to the upper deck.

“You wouldn’t dare shoot me,” she said confidently, her eyes locked with mine. “Jim, please hold her by the edge so I can decide if she goes in or not.”
“Let her go in. Besides, if you don’t, it’ll only prove how much of a coward you are,” I tried to provoke her to throw Jess overboard, and it seemed to be working.
“You really don’t care about her. Okay, I’ll do that just to prove to you that I’m Fiona Baxter, the most feared female in the entire universe.” She laughed and waved her hand at Jim.
