Leonidas is standing over me, growling at what used to be his horse, but Nightmare is not fazed. He rises into the air and grabs Leonidas in his claws. I am terrified, and a scream rips from my body. Smoke plums from Nightmare’s nostrils when he gently picks me up from the ground. He is carrying us over the rapids.

He blows me a kiss and walks away like nothing ever happened. I stay on the ground frozen and afraid to move until I lose sight of him in the trees. Tears spring loose once again and I slowly get back up pulling my own jeans up. My whole body from head to toe feels disgusting and sore. My lacy nightie was soaked through and through with sweat and even my limbs still shook, probably due to how fast I’d been running in my dreams. “How’s this even possible?” I muttered, slapping against my chest and stomach looking for signs of the cut I had sustained but sighed when I felt nothing. The hell? I’d just awoken from a nightmare, a nightmare where I was being chased around by a fire spitting Shantel who had somehow managed to morph into something that was neither a beast nor a werewolf but was scary all the same. At one point, she had almost killed me but I’d barely escaped when some sort of force had made me spring up from my bed.
