All of the goons immediately ducked behind cover out of fear and panic even as their dead comrade was still falling to the ground. “Heads down!” yelled Nightmare. “There’s a fuckin’ sniper out there!”

Nix ran to it, taking in a large amount of water. “Wow, she is thirsty,” Rick spoke from behind her. When Nix turned, the man was only wearing a pair of pants. So, the two humans had been having some fun. Nix was so upset that she just flopped down on the floor. The next moment, she was asleep. The nightmares started soon after. A howl pierced the night, waking Nix. When she looked around the house, she seemed confused, but the floor was a shock to her skin. Skin? Nix looked down at her body to see that she had shifted in her sleep.

A faint glow that bent and warped as though the air itself was a shattered lens. Shapes moved within it, impossible to discern. For a moment, Kael thought he saw faces—his mother’s, his own reflection, twisted. He blinked, and they were gone.

This was something I would normally only see on late-night TV. A ghost skittered over in a twisted, broken crawl, scooped up the eyeball, and popped it back into its socket. To suppress the scream in my throat, I pinched myself to stay focused, but the ghost had noticed me.

She grabbed my shoulders shaking them. “What the actual hell Nia!” she screamed loud enough for the entire building or country to hear her. “Shhh.” I said placing a hand over her mouth. “We have neighbours.” I reminded her. “Fuck them.” She said practically bouncing in her seat. “Don’t get so excited. It’s been hell since.” I confessed. She stopped bouncing her expression turning dark. “Explain.” She urged.

They stopped when Nash suddenly did what the old man did earlier.
