and then finally she said, “nothing hurts anymore, Dad.” I hugged her again, feeling very happy that she felt like herself again. “What do you have here?” I asked her, assessing the book she had been coloring. Natalia was very quick to explain to me, and very enthusiastic. “Nurse Gina told me the story of Snow white and the seven dwarfs.” She pointed to the drawings she was coloring. “This is Scotty, Eddie and Billy, snow White's dwarf friends. They were protecting her against the evil queen…” she flipped the page and pointed to a woman with a crown on her head. “This is the evil queen. I'm going to color her black and red.”

Hayden looked away for a moment and could only recall the time Lady Nixie, Queen Nivei's lady-in-waiting, approached him and asked if he could meet with Queen Nivei. He remembered Lady Nixie giving him a file with Leath Mayfair's information. It had everything from her birthday, favourite colour, her first day out of Silvenia, but it didn't say that Leath was not allowed to go back to Silvenia. Hayden thought that it was a simple task to make a rebelling kid go back but now is a different story.

I looked back at Leo, with my sweet doe eyes, as I smiled sweetly at him. "Why is her dress all frayed? What did you do Nina?" he asked, looking down at my dress growling. The anger on his face becoming more and more evident as she stuttered her words. "Nothing! This girl is a witch! A fiend! A demon!" She spat, edging closer to the door, trying to put as much distance between us as possible.

She was playing with her nails. Naturally, Nina was a straightforward girl. She would speak her mind where she thought it was appropriate. But every person has weaknesses and Nina wasn’t different either. She admired Eleanor a lot. For her, Eleanor was her utmost priority. So, whenever Nina made a mistake that caused Eleanor trouble, she would feel guilty about it. Fidgeting her feet or playing with her fingers are just the traits and Eleanor is well aware of them.

I tried to move away but Zanvil was not letting me do that. “N. Nina” a small whimper left my mouth. She was looking at me with the same expression and then her eyes narrowed on my face. “O my God,” Nina said and stomped in our direction. “Stupid Addams you bloody ruined my masterpiece,” she said in anger while shoving Zanvil body away from me. When she did that Zanvil closed his eyes in annoyance with the clenched jaw. I wanted to burst out in laughter when Nina did that but she gave me a death glare. “God why you created such a stupid creature like a man,” she said in frustration.

Nina bit her lip, straightened her little princess dress, and trembled as she slowly crawled under the man’s legs. As she did, she whispered to herself, "Nina, don’t cry. It’s okay if the dress gets dirty. You’re here to wake Mommy up. As long as Mommy wakes up, it’s worth it." She kept comforting herself, but the tears wouldn’t stop falling. Jennifer leaned against the door, watching with satisfaction, her excitement barely contained. "What a good girl. Just as expected from Winnie’s daughter. A lowly woman’s child is just as pathetic. Now, lift your head. Let me take a good look at you."

I don’t know it’s all so confusing I need to do an all-nighter googling all of this. Nina goes back to doing whatever she’s doing, “Oh Emily, look at this, I got a better image, these little things here, these are the start of arms and there are the legs and the head and abdomen,” she points everything out with so much excitement, she really is so sweet and I can tell she loves her job.

NINA I watch the sun set on the horizon, mesmerized by the warm colors painting the sky. Today is my last day in my small village. Tomorrow, I’ll leave for Morbovia—the kingdom of vampires. I sigh, trying to empty my mind and see the bright side of the situation, but there isn’t one. I’m being given to the vampires like a lamb to the slaughter.
