The underground waste room of the pack infirmary was still dark and damp. The air reeked of a foul mix of rotting potions and stale blood. A few hours ago, I had been pinned to the floor here, enduring the corrosion of silver water. Now, the roles were reversed. Nina was suspended in mid-air by iron chains, her wrists already bleeding from the restraints. Her expensive haute couture dress was now filthy, and she had cried her once-meticulous makeup into a comical clown mask.
