Natalina's POV The sheets were a tangled mess, so it was all too easy to picture what had happened just moments before. I took a deep breath and looked at Antonio Ragusa, doing my best to stay calm, "Didn't we have an agreement, Antonio? You can play around all you want, but you're not allowed to bring them home. "Besides, you clearly know what day today is." Antonio chuckled indifferently and struck a match to light a cigar. "There was a shootout downtown last night. It wasn't safe, so I brought her home to lay low."

Whether Vivian would come to regret it no longer mattered to me. After I completely gave up on her treatment, the nerves I had kept stretched tight finally loosened a little. After leaving the Grant estate, I was about to ask Vivian to return my passport and ID. All of my documents had been with her these past few years. Consider it an apology for that snarky remark you made to her earlier." I only hummed in response before I got up and headed downstairs. Adrian was surprised that I didn't throw a tantrum. After all, every time my family asked me to make garlic shrimp, I would always cry and whine as if it were some huge injustice.

After Isak's old flame, Julia, came back to town, she made a bet with me: he gets nine chances to choose between us in life-or-death situations. The one he abandons for the ninth time has to walk away. I agreed. The ninth time, a single phone call from Julia was all it took for Isak to leave me on the side of the road again. "Drive! Go!" Isak's voice was sharp, laced with a panic I'd never heard before. I clutched the gunshot wound in my stomach, blood seeping through my fingers, staining my white silk shirt.

"Hayden, if you don't believe me, fine! I'll go! It's not like it was a big deal. She just got upset and slapped me. I'm fine." Hayden's hand instinctively reached for hers. Selena shot me a smug smile. Then, the manager approached with a tablet. "Ms. Johnson, we've pulled up the footage." Selena's smile froze as she lunged for the tablet. Quick as a flash, I grabbed it and handed it to Hayden. The footage was clear. Selena had hit herself. I hadn't touched her once. Selena had no way to argue. Her face went pale as she sank to the ground, clutching Hayden's hand desperately.
