His footsteps are too fast , too quiet, predator-quiet .

“Clear,” he says , voice flat. “But we’re not staying .”
Leo’s arms tighten . “I don’t wanna go. I want my bed .”
Julian kneels in front of us, gun lowered, eyes on Leo. “Hey, buddy.” His voice cracks, but he forces it steady . “We’re going on an adventure, okay ? Like dinosaurs hiding from the meteor . We gotta be super quiet and super fast.”
