Aiden’s POV Kailin studied me for a long moment, his gaze steady, almost too steady. “If you knew all this,” he asked finally, “then why did you wait until now?” I let out a slow breath, leaning back in my chair. The answer had always been there. I just never bothered to say it out loud. “Because I didn’t care,” I said. Not enough to fight it. He frowned slightly. So I went on. “For a long time, marriage was just… another arrangement. Another decision made on my behalf that I didn’t bother to question.” I shrugged. “Elena, someone else—it wouldn’t have mattered. I was taking whatever came my way without complaints because it was easier that way.”

My eyes kept drifting back to him though, and before I realized it, I was studying him again. He looked relaxed now—so different from the cold CEO I’d been dealing with lately. His tie was loosened, his sleeves rolled up, and his hair had that messy, just-showered look that made him even more distracting. But beneath that ease was still the memory of this morning. The contract. The rules. I chewed slowly as the words replayed in my head. No emotional attachment. No public affection without prior notice. Respect his privacy. No interference in his family issues. The list went on and on. Like a rule book to remind me just how fake this marriage really was.

At club we mostly have some drinks and chat no dance or anything exotic. Girls throw their selves at us but we are not like that.
