Johanna's face was lit full of the joys of the spring, while she held Murphy's hand and pulled her through the room towards the frames. They all gathered around her watching the frames, to meet Murphy's surprise the frame held pictures of them, while yesterday when she saw for herself there wasn't any, the frames were empty as anything. "But! I saw these frames yesterday, they weren't holding any of the pictures, I saw them myself!", Murphy insisted with a troubled face, looking at them one by one. The shine from their face faded away, Alexa looked at her feet with her face showing low energy as Murphy inquired about that.

They were the ones who forced his hand. His face twisted. "Celina, why didn't you tell me who you were?" He looked at me like I was oxygen. "I messed up. Please... come back." I studied him—searching for anything real. Felt nothing. "I don't know you." He froze, hand half-raised, shaking. "I'm Bruce. Your mate for ten years. You seriously don't remember?" I nodded, voice flat. "It's my mating day. Leave. You make me sick."

" My heart stumbled. Red velvet cake? I forced a smile. "All right," I said lightly. "I'll come. But there's no need to send a car. If Anna finds out, she'll cause trouble. I'll wear a mask. If someone sees me and tells her, it will create unnecessary drama." Lorenzo nodded without hesitation. "As you wish," he said. Tired of pretending the holidays didn’t take every insecurity I owned and amplify it by ten. The worst part was that I didn’t even know what I wanted anymore. Not really. Just that I needed space.
