Noah leaned back into his gaming chair, its foam long since collapsed, and let out a long breath he’d been holding in his throat. "Damn, I actually got it. The kids on the forum are going to lose their minds when they find out I looted the De Luca server all by myself."

"Come on, there's this new club opening tonight. Club Enigma. Very exclusive, very mysterious. I managed to snag us some tickets." I eyed her suspiciously. "How'd you manage that?" Author’s pov Noah, a pot-bellied man in his mid-forties, held a half glass of crystal-clear wine in his right hand. His short stature and well-creamed hair gave him the appearance of a musician. A luxurious wrist watch adorned his right wrist, and his gaze was fixed on a large flat-screen TV. He was on the verge of laughter due to what he was watching when Diana entered the living room wearing a very short skirt.

I stared at my father as the silence took over our table. In his eyes, I saw every reason my mother fell for him. The dark brooding look was always every girl's fantasy. But you could have done better than this, Ma. "Alan, this is Sacha. Sacha, Alan", my sperm donor introduced. The creep didn't have a bad name, surprisingly. Noah leaned forward on one of the plush couches in his living room, his elbows braced against his thighs, his grip tight around a wireless controller as his eyes stayed locked on the massive screen in front of him. The 75-inch TV flashed green from the pitch— players sprinting, the crowd roaring faintly through the speakers.

“Y…you know that’s my only source of income.” Noah played with the tennis ball, tossing it up and catching it repeatedly, the soft thump-thump filling the tense silence. “Source of income,” he repeated mockingly, “and you’re still too broke to afford proper therapy or medication for that little… illness of yours?” He caught the ball one last time and squeezed it hard. “Pathetic.”
