There was a tale passed through generations, reaching the 21st Century, about a group of werewolves’ special mutation that brings out dormant abilities from a family’s genetic line. They were said to be marked and blessed by the moon goddess for they were the first of her followers. They were given the title of Legacy Wolves, keeping up their tradition and passing on their special traits through their children.

I lived in the Council Pack which is the smallest yet most elite pack on Celeste island. For years I wasn’t even sure if I had a wolf. I told myself if I didn’t have a wolf then I would move to Beldoore with Aunt Judy. I knew I was going to get my wolf later than everyone else because I’m a half breed. Most werewolves get their wolf around twelve or thirteen. I was fifteen. A late bloomer as my dad would so lovingly put. I was simply happy to have my wolf Selena. I screamed, seeing that enormous black wolf staring at me and licking its lips. I honked the horn to make it go away, but nothing made it leave. It was a huge wolf. The wolf jumped off the hood of the car, circling around it, never taking its eyes off me. With trembling hands, I took out my phone and dialed my dad's number, but, great, there was no signal. I slammed the gas pedal and sped away, getting as far away as I could from that wolf.

I pretended not to notice that she was trying to hide her smile as I went to her cabinet to get her drink. Moonfire whiskey was one of the strongest drinks, it was so strong that large quantities of pure moonfire whiskey could put an alpha werewolf into a coma. That was why it had to be properly diluted before it could be consumed. It was also super rare, but I was surprised that Mama Felz was always fully stocked on it.
