Daniel’s cold eyes stared at her for a moment. “He will be fine.” Magnolia looked in the direction of her son. ‘The baron did not have any powers. He even hated his mother for running away with a noble because she was infatuated with magic. Obviously, I don’t have any powers either. So how is it possible that Geoffrey does? She ordered the servants nearby to call them to the parlor. She got Daphne seated and a bit of food, coaxing her to eat as the rest of the nobles and generals gathered. “Your Majesty!” One of the generals cried in relief, “Thank the moon you’re–”

Charles stated diplomatically, trying to navigate the tense atmosphere. Nicholas scoffed, a blend of cynicism and charisma emanating from him as he stood. “Respect? What use is respect to me in this deadly game for the throne? The untimely demise of my father was a stark awakening to the realities of our kingdom.
