‎Elena’s POV ‎I pulled up to Nora’s apartment, my beat-up sedan looking out of place on her rough street. Her call had come out of nowhere, her voice tight, trying to sound casual. A gala? A Vivienne Caldron gown? I’d known Nora forever, and she wasn’t the type for fancy events or designer dresses. Something was off, and it wasn’t just Elias’s overdose or her vague answers about this “anonymous rich guy.” Ever since she called Mikhail Romanov, our boss, to find her brother, my suspicions had been growing. Nora was hiding something big, and now this gala and that insane dress? I wasn’t leaving without answers.

' thought Nora as she headed straight for the waiting room. Nora's flight was in an hour. Nora had turned off her mobile phone and chose to read a novel by her favourite author. The novel told the story of the adventures of three people in various parallel worlds. This work was the second part of the previous work. Just by reading the novel, she felt like she was in another world and forgot for a moment what was happening to her at the moment. She seemed to be immersed in her own world of reading. Meanwhile, at the Torrence family mansion, Vivian, Adam's mother, was engrossed in reading a magazine in the living room. There was tea and freshly baked cookies on the table.

Nora's eyes went to Eli's door again. Every morning it was the same thing. She would walk past his empty room on her way to breakfast, slow down without meaning to, and stand there for a second too long before making herself keep walking. She never said anything about it. But Raphael noticed. He noticed the way her shoulders dropped a little every time she passed that door. He noticed how she stopped talking about Eli's laugh, his tiny hands, the way he used to grab her hair, like saying his name out loud had gotten too heavy to carry.

The moment she bit into it, her eyes widened so dramatically that I nearly fell off the bed laughing. “Oh my GODDESS!” Crumbs nearly flew everywhere as she moaned dramatically over the taste. “These are incredible!” I laughed so hard tears gathered in my eyes. “You’re embarrassing yourself.” “I don’t care,” Nora declared before taking another massive bite. Clare chuckled softly before excusing herself politely from the room. The moment she left, Nora laid dramatically beside me on the bed. “Evelyn,” she whispered seriously, “your life changed overnight.” I smiled faintly. “It still feels unreal sometimes.”

In New York, Clara began writing emails to my old account. She wrote one every day. At first, they were long and chaotic. 【Nora, I’m sorry.】 【Nora, I was wrong.】 【Nora, I don’t know how to explain it. Nora got to work, as soon as she got to her office, the weight of the news article still on her mind. An hour later, her friend arrived. The moment she stepped into the office, Nora said, "There's something you need to see," slamming a copy of a tabloid on the desk. She paused, and sarcastically replied, "Good morning to you too, Nora." She got nothing but a worried look from Nora, she calmly picked up the tabloid. It had a picture of Nora walking towards her car, phone in hand, and in bold black print it read, "Is Elnora Smith truly the CEO of FS Phoenix or is she just a face fronting for a criminal organization ?"

Slightly nervous. "Is this Nora Hayes? The writer of Once Discarded Now Desired on GoodNovel?" Nora blinked. "Yes," she said carefully. "I just finished Chapter 25," the woman said. "I have been reading since last night. I did not sleep." A pause. "I just needed to tell someone that this story is the most real thing I have read in years and I need to know what happens next and please do not stop writing it." The kitchen was very quiet. Ethan was watching her face.

"You should probably be aware that Nora is straight. She did Calculus in high school, but no tennis and no dates wearing skirts. No dates for Homecoming or Prom. She is not a virgin, she knows the basic moves, but even in college she prioritized studies over sex. She was sitting on the green grass with her snacks close beside her. She was having a good time alone with just herself. She had plans to look for a job but she knew she had to enjoy herself before working or she might not have time for herself when she starts working besides she hasn't have that much luck in getting a job.

Settling on making a quick omelet, I gathered eggs, cheese, and some leftover vegetables. As I whisked the eggs, my mind wandered back to the past couple of days. I wondered if Grace was asleep right now, or sitting up feeling scared and lonely. Tomorrow, I would prepare a meal for her, I decided. And maybe bring her a few of those books I had purchased. “Midnight snack, Kayla?” I jumped at the sound of the voice, nearly dropping the bowl. Turning, I saw Nora leaning casually against the doorway, her arms crossed and a smug smile playing on her lips. She was dressed impeccably, as always, in a silk robe that accentuated her slim figure.
