“I’d be offended if you did.” They stood there, snow falling softly around them, two enemies pretending not to feel the strange pull crackling between them. “You’re a widower,” Nyra said suddenly. Sebastian’s jaw tightened. “Don’t.” “She died three years ago,” Nyra continued, her tone softer now. “I know.” Silence stretched. “You did your homework,” he said. “I always do.” Another pause. Then she smiled again—dangerous, teasing. “Relax, Volkov. I’m not here to kill you. It’s Christmas.”

Knight wailed. My eyes drifted to the TV, and my eyes widened in utter shock. I—I saw Nora, the she-wolf I had been looking for, my mate, and the mother of my sons. She was on the screen, surrounded by reporters who were asking her questions. She was in a hospital gown, but she looked beautiful—more beautiful than the last time I saw her nine years ago. Her brown eyes sparkled, her hair shone, and her lips curled. She looked confused, and I felt a tingling sensation run up my spine. A smile spread across my cheeks, forgetting everything else. “Alpha!!” Jack shouted.

Glancing at Snow's expression, Norah knew she had hit Snow where it hurt, and she continued, "It is so pathetic having your sweetheart right in front of you, but you can only watch from afar as he and another woman make out. It is so sad." As Norah kept fanning the flames, Snow was getting pissed. "That is enough. Stop it." Norah felt it was time and turned to look squarely at Snow. "If you want to take your sweetheart back from someone else's arms, I can help you." Snow slowly turned to look at her, then shot a glare at her. "That won't be necessary." With that, she got up and left. Norah looked at Snow, who walked away, and smirked. "You will come to me of your own accord."

This was their secret life. Just the two of them. “The white night has finally ended. It has lasted a few months, and now the night has come back. The familiar winter will arrive soon…” The summer they thought would last forever finally ended. It was over. And now, the familiar cruel winter was coming for them again.

The sun had already set by the time I finished work. Jaime always called this place a remote village. Every minute here felt like torture to her. I thought she would not be able to stand it and would leave. To my surprise, she waited outside my office door. When she saw me, she stood up at once and hurried to my side. “Joseph, you still haven’t told me what happened. Did your mother really die?” I stopped walking and looked at her. A cold laugh escaped me. “My mother died. Isn’t that what you wanted? Your mother’s so‑called killer finally paid the price. Are you satisfied now?”

“Zayn MacQuoid, you can’t be this selfish! I’m working hard right now. I can’t have kids!” I compromised to quell her anger. I valued her career, but she resigned so that she could take care of Charles and Caleb better. Besides, she used the money I had saved for retirement for Caleb’s wedding. My leg hurt terribly during that winter, but I was too poor to see a doctor. Moreover, the temperature at home was freezing. It made me shiver. I tried calling Layla for money, but she hung up on me repeatedly. I could not hold on since I was old. In the end, I froze to death.

She wiggled her eyebrows at me—as if what she were saying made the idea somehow more appealing. "It's a private school." I chuckled, shaking my head at the stupidity I found in her statement. "Every dance we have is invested with over thousands of dollars. They're all the biggest." "Yes—but this one is the winter one which is always better than the spring one." Preslie retorted, her tone defensive. "Yeah—peanut butter and jelly is always better with bread." I rolled my eyes, sighing at my weak comeback. "How does the season signify which will be better?"

Noah asked for anticipation while staring fixedly at the woman in front of him. "Hahaha ... Noah Retter crown prince, you quickly found out. Truly a Retter descendant." Shit! This witch is very disgusting. Using all means for something secret. Is it she aiming to get a higher position? The position has no benefits at all. "Tch! You're so disgusting to be a teacher! " Noah hissed sharply. Mrs. Zoe chuckled softly. She gave Noah a disdainful look. For her only, she is the best. Gladys was terrified right now. She gripped her brother's hand tightly.

“Wasn’t sure you’d make it—even with the wolf’s sacrifice.” I turned my head with effort and saw an elderly woman sitting beside the fire, grinding herbs in a stone mortar. Her silver hair was pulled back into a long braid, and her weathered face bore the distinctive facial markings of the Northern wolf clans. “Who are you?” I asked, my voice hoarse and thin. “How long have I been here?” “Name’s Nora,” she said, still focused on her herbs. “Found you washed up downstream from my cabin three days ago. You were more dead than alive.”

CAIN "Um, no,” she whispered, her voice soft, a little musical, and so painfully familiar to him. "I'm Nora." She extended a wet hand toward him. "Nora Delaney. I'm here for the interview." Cain looked at her hand, at her face, then at her hand again. How could this be!? He saw the flames eat her with his own eyes. Held the urn that contained her ashes. And yet here she stood, looking at him with those hazel eyes that still haunt his dreams every night.
