It was a blurry night as the heat was unbearable for Alice, not that the room is hot but she was feeling hot. The conversation she had earlier with her grandmother had taken her off the edge. One thing Alice know off and she is sure of is that she has no interest in marrying any of the princes.

I kept calm, trying to figure out what was going on and why such a harsh sound. “No! No! Am I dreaming?” The same sound echoed again, this time with a spoken word. It's obvious it's coming from my wife. Quickly I downed the remaining cognac inside the glass and rushed into the room. Maybe she was in pain. As I flick the curtain, Philomena was standing beside the mattress holding a paper in her hands. I was still in shock and confused about her screaming. “What is the problem?” I asked shockingly. She raised her eyeball towards me. And never say a word.

I blurted out in disbelief. “Yes, and I'll do it again if you keep on lying to me. The quarrel spiralled– it became loud , messy and humiliating. I felt rage burn deep behind my eyes, I wanted to scream but I still needed to keep my calm— that was my best friend and I definitely wasn't the villain she had painted in her head. Just then— A familiar voice cut through the chaos. “Hey, baby,” He said, his tone was warm and innocent and so oblivious to the storm. “So sorry I took so long, I got a partner call which I had to answer, you know how it is– business."

I watch her face as she waits for Greta to answer. "Hi, Mom... Yeah, we're home... No, everything's fine... We got the new phone set up and dropped off the old one for data recovery... Two days, they said... I know, I told them the same thing..." She's quiet for a moment, listening. "No, we didn't see anyone suspicious... Just came straight home... Yeah, I will... I will... Love you too. Talk to you tomorrow." She hangs up and sets the phone on the table.

I looked into the room. The window was wide open, and the freezing wind rushed in. My niece's friends huddled by the bed, too scared to say a word. They were already in elementary school. How could they not know this was dangerous? My mate tried to reason with me. "Raven already admitted she was wrong. Honey, you've vented enough. Let's just bury the pup." I found it absurd. A life was gone, and all she had to do was say she was sorry?

Not even faded. The sharp scent of perfume hit me from his collar. Tom Ford Black Orchid. Vanessa’s favorite. I slapped a hand over my mouth. Bile rose in my throat. I shoved at his chest, hard. Like he was poison. "Elena!" His smile vanished. He gripped my shoulders, his voice tight with fake concern. "What's wrong? Is the baby acting up again?" The baby. He brought up our baby. An icy fist clamped around my heart and squeezed. Hard.

Amber flashed a smug smile at him, licking her lips. “You’re so good to me, baby.” They flirted like I wasn’t even there, their wild pheromones thick in the air, all mixed up. After a while, they finally seemed to remember I existed. Ethan noticed I hadn’t touched my food. “Scarlett, aren’t you hungry?” I said flatly, “I’m allergic to venison.” The room went quiet for a beat, the air freezing. Amber quickly asked with concern, “Scarlett, why didn’t you say so? You haven’t touched any deer blood, have you? Venison can trigger a wolf's frenzy in those who are allergic.”

I look back at my case study options and I add a fourth one and then immediately cross it out before I can finish writing it. But the two words are still visible under the single line. False testimony.

Anything. Nothing.
