POV: Kael "Kael, step back," Nova said, and the words arrived in the register she used when the instruction was not a request and was not a command but was something in the space between them — the communication of someone who has assessed the situation fully and is sharing the conclusion of that assessment with someone she trusts to receive it as the gift it is.

I could feel Nova adjusting herself to lie upside down in her bed. She always said it was a witch thing, but I knew it was more of a habit she had developed overtime.

“That means it’s intentional.” Avelyn nodded slightly. “Yes.” A pause. Then she said, “This isn’t just evolution.” Tan looked at her. “Then what is it?” Avelyn’s voice lowered. “It’s communication.” The word settled heavily. Because now Something new had entered the situation. Not just change. Not just growth. But something reaching outward. Cassian’s gaze darkened slightly. “To who?” Avelyn didn’t answer immediately. Because the truth They didn’t know yet.

I paw at him to gain his attention . How do I tell him that I want to turn back ? He looks at me and raises his eyebrow . I try to feel the desire to turn back to my human self , hoping that he would feel it too and would let me know how . As expected , he hadn't put up a wall and realised almost immediately what I meant . I wonder if Jace and I will be able to communicate through mild l**k just like Alec and Michael . It seems fun , intruiging and more than anything a different sort of connection that I'd like to try out .

Then he said quietly, “It means transmission is no longer guaranteed to preserve structure.” Anna frowned. “So communication itself is breaking.” “Yes,” Adrian said. A pause. “But not fully.” Silence. Anna looked around slowly. The environment was still stable. Still responsive. Still behaving as if nothing was wrong. That was what made it worse. Because she knew “nothing wrong” was no longer a shared assessment. She whispered, “So I could be saying something that never reaches you.” Elsewhere, Adrian responded quietly. “Yes.” A pause. “And I could be responding to something you never said.”
