I continued. David was nodding his head like he was taking notes with his brain. He must have had a really strong brain to remember everything I had just said. Well, my story was too interesting for him to not have remembered it at all, regardless of whether he wrote it down or not. That was just one thing about me: I was a perfect storyteller. Perfect! I could hook you from whatever angle, however you want it, whenever you want it, wherever you want it. And that was just Jane for you: the delusional dreamer. I said in my head and laughed out loud.

One of the first things he told me was that if my mate was sensitive about extreme violence, as my Mama is given her past, I should learn to keep that part of myself and my job away from her, whether in conversations or through the bond. Delilah is a sensitive person. Even though I heard Lia’s screams of pain, I am certain it hurt Delilah to cause that pain. I don’t need a complete mate bond to know Delilah’s feelings. She may not like or even hate Lia, but at her core, Delilah is a good person who is remarkably kind, even to people who don’t deserve it—and knowing that I can only imagine how she will feel after this.

Ed corrected her, pointing out the book he was reading. "Pfft! Who are you trying to fool?" Delia chuckled. "What are you reading? I noticed you haven't turned a page in ten minutes. Your eyes are busy looking over there." Delia pointed her thumb at Ruby, who was now tidying up some tables with other employees. After the lunch rush, the cashier was empty. Ruby bustling around was certainly a more captivating sight than the book in Ed's hands. He hadn't read a single word in the past ten minutes. "A piece of advice from me: get close to AJ. Ruby's world is AJ. You get AJ, and then you get his mother. Easy, right?" Delia winked again.

Later, alone in her room, Elara lay awake. Her body felt quiet. Balanced. But her mind wouldn’t rest. She sensed the presence again—not pushing, not pulling. Just… listening. “You feel them too,” she whispered. The presence did not answer. But it did not leave. The next morning, the first article appeared. THE WOMAN AT THE CENTER OF IT ALL. Elara read it carefully. It wasn’t cruel. It wasn’t kind. It was speculative. Incomplete. Dangerous. By noon, there were five more.

I mutter, give him a bow and intend to leave but he holds my elbow just to stop me. However, I snap his hand away from me and said; "I hate you" "Well, I hate you more, stop giving me attitude and get me back to my body" It creeps me out that I'm talking to a ghost. I need to snap out of my delusions immediately before it consumes me. I walk out on him again and this lunatic keeps following me! Nothing. I walk around the room until I reach the bed, then sit down on the edge and gently run my hand over the surface of her king-sized mattress. This room was once filled with so much love. But now, a part of her — and a part of me — died the moment she walked away and left me behind. Her words still echo sharply inside my mind, and I know every single one of them was a lie. Nova left knowing full well I would be left all alone here, with no one to rely on. She knows this house is nothing less than hell, yet I have no choice but to obey and become exactly the daughter Papa wants me to be for the mafia.

Just then, a foot appeared in front of her eyes– she swallowed a lump while her gaze slowly travelled up from the feet of the person towards his head. "Drake, is that you?" Her voice trembled and her mind falsely assured her. Drake McCarthy became Delia's husband after her failed marriage with Hansel. Their union was beautifully sealed with three adorable kids, a set of twins – Nelly and Nina; and a boy, Nelson who became their last born.

If she ever escaped this place, Delilah promised herself that she would get an indoor library in her house. If she ever got a house. She already got the extra room in her house filled up with shelves of books too, so that counted as a mini library. Her stomach rumbled and she decided that it was time for her to leave the library. She placed the books she had and decided to pick up a book titled Guide To Demons and another romance novel to read for the night. On her way down, she ran into Eriel. “Guide to demons?” Eriel chuckled. Delilah noticed how tall he was, as usual, and wondered if other supernatural species had that kind of height too. Was it just humans who were ridiculously small?

It wasn't fear, just that nervous, sickly anticipation. People are going to stare. Of course they are.
