She wasn’t sure what this new chapter would demand from her. When she reached the bedroom, she quietly opened the door, expecting to find the space empty and inviting. Instead, what she saw made her stop in her tracks. Mrs. Hayden, the housekeeper, was standing by the bed, holding Delilah’s large black book—the book! The one where Delilah had jotted down notes about her clients' gory requests. It wasn’t just any book—it was private, and Mrs. Hayden had it open, her eyes scanning its pages with a focused intensity.

Li-lah stared at her phone for a very long time. She'd promise herself not to involve anyo else in her plans and be was the last person she wanted to get involved in this but she had vowed to do anything to get her revenge and she was going to stick to her guns no matter what, she dialled up the number and waited. I ask sitting down as close to her as possible without actually touching her. She sighs putting her bookmark between the pages and turning to face me. "Why? Have you suddenly taken up reading?"

Loretta cried, but Delia had been blinded by her revenge against Fabian and didn't realize she was making the same mistake Fabian had made. "Oh dear, don't take it too personally. This man is evil; let me tell you a secret about why he comes for girls like you," Delia's voice dropped as she brought her lips close to Loretta's ear. ⸻ LENA The hotel room was unbearably quiet after Christian left. Alone with my thoughts, I picked up the phone and put it down at least a dozen times. Who could I even call? There was no one I trusted to give me an unbiased opinion. My situation was too close to home for my mom or sister. There was always Delia, but she’d been with Tig since she was fourteen and still believed in fairy tale endings. Her reality didn’t include a small child, a manipulative ex, or growing up with a father who forgot her and a mother too broken to leave the house for years.
