“Maybe that’s why I need you. You don’t let the chaos win.” She rolled her eyes, trying to deflect all the sweet praise from what he said. “You need me because I’m good at my job. Don’t make it personal.” “It already is,” Roman answered, his voice lower. The air moved between them, the lines she had boldy tried establishing blurring in ways she wasn’t ready to accept. "I am going to rest my head" Ava said closing her eyes immediately as she tried to ruin the weird tension. By morning, Ava’s phone buzzed with hundreds of messages. The article had gone viral, and the damage was spreading. Clara called first, her voice rigid.

Dave murmured with determination. Repeatedly, Aurora tossed and turned on the bed, unable to close her eyes even for a moment. Her thoughts and feelings seemed to wander aimlessly. An undefined presence in her heart. Restlessness without a clear reason left her frustrated. She wasn't ready to fall in love and get her heart broken at the same time.

“It is not okay that you suffer for my mistakes. You are all perfect, and I am all a mess. And now, you are caught up in all this.” She chuckled. "Am Iperfect?” she implored, differing from his statement, “May I remind you that I was the disgrace of my family? That is why they did not think even for a second before trading me away the first chance they got? May I also remind you why I had to be locked up like a bad omen in my own home? It was because of my sins? I slept around, got pregnant, and got dumb, like, nadah! And lastly, may I also remind you that the reason we are now in this mess is because my sister told the world about it? Now, Mr. Adam, tell me where perfection is in all that.”

She clutched her knees to her chest, the water lapping gently against her skin, a chilling reminder of the void that threatened to consume her. “I’m perfect, I’m perfect, I’m perfect.” Emily’s voice cracked, the words a desperate mantra that she whispered to herself over and over, a feeble attempt to drown out the voices of doubt and self-loathing that swirled in the depths of her soul. But as she remembered what perfection really looked like, a sudden realization pierced through the veil of her mental anguish. Emily’s muttering faltered, her heart constricted with a sense of bitter betrayal as she felt the lie of her own words settle like a stone in the pit of her stomach.

"That wife is just a tool. She deserves it!" Liam released Chloe and turned back to me. His expression was cold again. "Now you understand, right? Our marriage was a sham from the start. But why did you have to blow it all up?" he demanded. "We each got what we wanted. Couldn't we just leave it at that? You had to come here and make a scene. Are you happy now?" He wasn't guilty for being caught. He was annoyed. Annoyed that I’d crashed his perfect little world.

Out of everyone, why did he have to be the one there that night? I mentally groaned. This was bad. This wasn't how I envisioned my internship to go. The employees of the Santiago enterprise had a reputation to uphold both at work and off duty because their actions represented the prestige of the firm. What would he even think of me? A drunk who just ends up in men's beds? I couldn't let one mistake of a night taint my entire image. That night never happened. I was not the careless girl he met that night. I was Aliya Martinez, the girl who worked hard to earn her place here.

Jo asked with a poker face. "Everyone makes mistakes, young lady.” Mr Kelly explained. “My characters also.” “In your novels, all the characters keep making mistakes again, and again. It seems they don't have brains because they don't learn from their mistakes. Is that the only topic that you can write about?" Jo drilled down. “After all, the same life, none of us is perfect.” “Well, none of your heroes even strive for perfection. They are far from any ideals. In life we try our best, Mr Kelly. At least we make an effort, we struggle, we strive." Patrick joined the discussion.
