In one moment, a child so small and so pure manages to quell them. “Can you understand them, Seni?” Kellen asks, coming to her side, now in skin form. “Of course.” Her little brows furrow together, “They are mine.” She says with the tip of her head and cocking it to the side as if in thought. Seneca’s sea-glass eyes sparkle with joy as another comes to her side, its spiked and bristled fur rubbing against her like a domesticated cat. I grip my sword, ready in case their demeanor changes. My nervousness must spill out into the open as Seneca says “They won't hurt us anymore. Not now. They know you are my Mama and Papa.”

Lyra did not understand either, but she nodded and closed her eyes. Sena visited the kennels whenever she could manage it, sneaking down the narrow stairs with scraps of food hidden in her pockets and tattered books tucked beneath her arm. She taught Lyra to read and write in the flickering torchlight and showed her how to identify healing herbs and mix poultices for wounds. By the time Lyra was ten years old, she had read every book her mother could smuggle past the guards. "Keep your head down," Sena whispered each morning before Lyra went up to work. "Do not meet their eyes. Do not speak unless someone speaks to you first. Do not give any of them a reason to notice you."

"Well, let's go to class!" Siena took my hand and started walking towards class. While on the way to class, we accidentally bumped into Senine. But this time she walked alone without Lily and Joana by her side. When our gazes met, I was sure there was a strange glint in her tired-looking eyes. As if she wanted to kill me with that look! What is up with her? "Doesn't she look thinner than usual?"

Selene nodded her head and there was no trace of sadness seen on her face. Senya smiled as she saw Selene's face. She locked the door and they walked in the same direction. "Sister Senya, do you have another story?" Selene asked, waiting for the moment she had been waiting for every night. "Yes, I do. I found this book in the old room while I was cleaning and I hope you will love this story." Senya answered and they jumped on the bed to have a bedtime story. Selene happily laid on the bed while Senya sat beside her, holding a small thick old book that she had found inside the mansion.

Sena just smiled wryly, she was sure that Rossa must have infiltrated some of the maids who would watch over Sena as long as she was in this house, or rather, as long as Sena carried out her mission to 'kill' Dannie. “Ah, damn it! Even though I never asked for a life like this god!” Sena grumbled in annoyance as she punched her hand in the air. After venting her anger, only then could she see how the condition of the room she would be living in would be from now on. And the next second, Sena experienced a mental breakdown.
