Chapter Nine : Office Politics Nova POV “Sir?” Did he just say what I think I heard? “I don’t repeat myself.” Usually, when a character says this in a novel, it ends with the male’s hand wrapped around the female’s throat like a choking necklace while she writhes beneath him. But this is an office space and not just any office space. The room is decked with cameras, and the walls are transparent glass. As much as I identify as a closeted freak, there are limits to the risks I’m willing to take, and any form of pleasure without proper protection might lead to regret.

Perhaps this war had begun long before she had stepped into Kilian’s world. Later, as the sun dipped low and the sky blushed in orange and violet, Nova found herself walking the outer walls. The compound felt less like a fortress and more like a prison with every passing day. The air was thick with whispers: warriors wondering why their strength was failing, mothers speaking in hushed tones about rogues gathering in unnatural numbers, children lowering their voices when her shadow passed. Not only that, but the setting will be post-apocalyptic, where the survivors have varying degrees of psychic powers. Most people will have low-level abilities, such as telepathy and empathy. Some will have incredible powers able to manipulate the physical world with their minds, such as telekinesis and precognition. A handful will be able to literally warp what’s real with a thought (sometimes carelessly). The novel will explore similar themes of power and corruption, but mostly fresh ones regarding reality and perception. Specifically, the differences between natural reality vs manufactured reality, and truth vs disinformation. Kinda like what we’re seeing politically across the globe.

Callie shut her eyes as heat spread throughout her entire body, there wasn’t much aer in her body reacted to the strange energy and a cooling sensation traveled through her veins, she didn’t have to look to know her veins were glowing green again. She finally opened her eyes when the energy in her body had settled. Vivid shades of orange, red and yellow attacked her eyes and she lifted a hand to shield her eyes from the bright glare. After a while her vision adjusted to the light and colors around her. It was a very pretty place, flowers in orange, red and yellow were scattered all over the place, the petals of each flower moved like flames.

I did not look back at the troughs as I cleared the steps. The script of the novel was completely gone. There were no neat acts or heroic chapters left, just a messy, suffocating reality where the villains and the victims were breathing the exact same black smoke. There was no grand confrontation waiting for us, just the long, dark walk up to the Great Hall through the grease and the ash, with the midnight deadline closing in like a trap.

he chuckled in glee while revealing the notebook that had the world setting, the villains, and how it worked. “Depends. I have five scenarios at best which isn’t a lot considering that I can go more than 50 years in the novel in a single night.” He added. “But?” Smart and Smiley licked their dry lips. “These five are enough to torture them mentally for the whole night. Y’all will be the administrator.” They clapped, slow, to not attract attention. “Now, get comfortable. Prepare your mental.” “Yes sir!”

The smell of burnt hair travelled through before the screen filled in, and Nueva was alone. This realm was a dark, ugly and uninhabitable Badlands with no colours. Everything around Nueva was in molten grey and black shades, making it hard to sight any distinctive landmarks in the flat environment. The sky was a rich sepia tone with the constant ominous sound of thunder rumbling in the distance.

How to make the novel proceed well, how will I make them fall in love with each other to avoid misfortunes. Last night, I figured out something before sleeping. And that is, if the novel didn't proceed well, it could ve chaotic in this empire. Since the plot has no direction at all, it could get messy just like this. So if this continues, if the heroine and male lead continues to be indifferent with each other, we can meet misfortunes in the future and I will no longer know the future whuch can become inconvenient and worrisome
