The next day, Tessa was back to preparing herself. This time she met someone who hired her for a simple outfit: a black shirt and light blue jeans with rips on both knees. Tessa's favorite shoes have always been faded boots. Before leaving her apartment, Tessa still didn't skip breakfast, though, only making her morning cup of cold Americano coffee and a slice of low-calorie whole wheat bread. Last night's incident at the club really made Tessa feel irritated again when she remembered it. The man's face was so handsome, but it was unfortunate that he had such an uneducated mouth.

“No problem, Pre. I’m on my way there right now.” “Okay… see you… bye.” Pre ended the call with a soft airy voice that I’d never heard before in my entire life. TESSA. I was curled up on my couch, the half-empty bottle of tequila sweating on the table, my bare feet tucked under me. My throat was raw from the burn, but I poured another shot anyway. I didn’t care. If I drank enough, maybe this birthday would blur into nothing. The knock on my door didn’t stop, even when I ignored it. Then it opened without warning. “Tessa?” Nova’s voice cut through, sharp and disapproving.

Tess untied the ribbon and slipped the top off of the box. Inside of it she saw brilliant blue and soft white articles of clothing. She laid the items on the bed and took inventory of what all was enclosed in the box. After dressing Tess stood back and looked in the mirror. She knew Adam would never let her go out in public dressed like this, so the outfit was all for his pleasure. She smoothed the silky fabric of the sleeveless white dress over her curves. Under the dress she had on the new bra and thong in a rich blue that reminder her of the depths of the ocean. Through the dress she could see the outline of the undergarments.
