Under the Shadow of the Moon
We used to come here sometimes, and so this forest is as familiar to me as my own heartbeat.
The forest around the house feels endless, stretching out in every direction like a sea of trees just swaying in the wind. Tall pines and oaks tower above me, their branches forming a thick canopy that blocks most of the sunlight. Only a few rays manage to filter through during the day, casting soft shadows on the forest floor. The air is cool and fresh, filled with the earthy smell of damp soil, pine needles, and the scent of fallen leaves. This is the smell of my childhood. Familiar, safe, and reminiscent of the good times I spent here as a boy, then, as a teenager.
