she whispers. Caden’s face lights up with hope, and the knot in my chest loosens for the first time all day. He glances at Evelyn with a rare smile. “It’s fine. Let them stay. They’re making her feel better.” Evelyn looks like she wants to argue—definitely dreading the cleanup—but when Drake nods his agreement, she just sighs and disappears back down the hall. Suddenly, Rupa jumps up onto the couch, landing squarely on top of Caden, who grunts as the weight knocks the air out of him.

I like to keep pushing it off so I don't have to deal with it ending. I feel rather pleased with myself for actually finishing a novel. It wasn't perfect but I felt happy writing it.
