CHECKMATE, DARLING

CHECKMATE, DARLING

OV MIRA The morning sunlight filtered softly through the tall, arched windows of our newly opened office on the third floor of the brownstone. Down below on West 72nd Street, the steady hum of Manhattan life went on, punctuated by the occasional ring of a bicycle bell or the distant thrum of a delivery truck. For three weeks, this room had smelled of fresh paint, wood polish, and the rich aroma of espresso from the machine Sarah had set up in the staff break room. It felt like a sanctuary.

His Heir, Her Secret

His Heir, Her Secret

Lucien The city never really slept, but from the 47th floor of Wolfe Holdings, it at least seemed like it did. Manhattan’s lights glittered through the floor-to-ceiling windows of my private office—cold, clean, distant. The kind of view meant to inspire power. Tonight, it felt like a war map.

Dripping Wet: A Collection of Forbidden Desires

Dripping Wet: A Collection of Forbidden Desires

sheer thigh-highs and no bra because if he wanted files, he'd get a show too maybe even drop to my knees first this time. The cab pulled up to the sleek brownstone on the Upper East Side, all wrought iron gates and ivy climbing the walls like it guarded secrets darker than corporate espionage, and I paid the driver quickly before stepping out into the cool night air that pebbled my nipples against the thin fabric. heels clicking up the steps as I pushed open the heavy oak door just like he'd said, finding myself in a foyer lit by a single crystal chandelier that cast shadows dancing across marble floors leading to a study where low light spilled from an open door.

The billionaire who couldn't steal my heart

The billionaire who couldn't steal my heart

“So where do you want to go for dinner tonight?” “Uhm… There's this little Italian place called Marcello on the upper East side. I like the place, it's quiet and intimate. You know, it's perfect for actually getting to know each other better.” He then pauses, “Unless that sounds too fancy for you. I know I can be a little out of touch with normal places sometimes.”

The Cost of Almost

The Cost of Almost

Something closer to fear. I texted back four words. Where and when. She replied within a minute. Coffee shop on 5th and 82nd. One hour. The shop was small and overpriced in the specific way of Upper East Side establishments that existed mostly to be seen in, all reclaimed wood and brass fixtures, and Vivian was already seated when I arrived — no entourage, no audience, none of the performance I’d watched her deploy at every previous encounter. She looked, for the first time since she’d returned to New York, genuinely tired.

HEAT BETWEEN THE LINES

HEAT BETWEEN THE LINES

Emma stood outside Jake Morrison's apartment building on the Upper East Side, clutching her laptop bag and seriously questioning her life choices. The elegant brownstone with its wrought-iron details and perfectly manicured entrance screamed expensive the kind of place that came with doormen and marble lobbies and editors who could afford to take risks with their authors' careers.

THE BOSS I HATED TO LOVE

THE BOSS I HATED TO LOVE

Emma suggested an informal meeting, just to chat about life and literature — no pressure, no schedules. Curious and excited, Celina accepted. Emma had proposed Café Lalo, a charming spot on the Upper West Side, famous for its cozy atmosphere and its large glass windows that offered a perfect view of New York’s lively streets while sipping a great cup of coffee. That afternoon, Celina dressed in a cream-colored coat, a deep burgundy scarf, and warm boots. New York’s winter chill required layers, but she loved the season’s crisp air. When she arrived at the café, she spotted Emma already seated near the window, a book open in her hands. The dean looked up and greeted her with a warm smile.

Pregnant With His Heir, After The Divorce

Pregnant With His Heir, After The Divorce

The morning light broke over the Hudson River, cutting through the heavy, charcoal-colored clouds and casting long, cold beams of gold across the polished oak floors of the penthouse. Vivian stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, her arms wrapped tightly around her waist as she watched the ant-like procession of morning traffic crawling across the West Side Highway. The events of the previous evening—the stack of frantic, erratic letters delivered from the Westchester holding facility and Julien’s desperate, delusional petitions for a court-mandated wellness check—still lingered in the air like a foul, persistent smoke.

Satisfying Her Darkest Fantasies

Satisfying Her Darkest Fantasies

The days were getting cooler as fall wound down to winter. Gabe lived a short distance away at 400 Fifth Avenue, a sleek, modern residential development, while Jace lived on the Upper West Side closer to Mia—she was convinced she was why Jace had never moved closer to his office. And Ash lived at 1 Morton Square, which overlooked the Hudson River.

As I look at my year in review, this author and book collection has been monumental in reigniting my hunger for reading. I can't track most of the books from this app easily for my year end count but in my heart this book means the most. I wish I could buy a printed version of each of these. .........

Only up to the first 3 stories...and I loved them! I wondered why the book was so big but it's broken down with several stories so when I get time, I'll read them accordingly. Pretty well written/edited and certain to make you desire more than you can handle.
