Twenty miles after the driver got down a small road is connected to the highway leading to a dilapidated haunted house fifty kilometers north of the nearby village. Scary squeals of women are often heard from the house by the locals late in the night. But the villagers gave evidence that the house had been vacant for the last twenty years. The landlord of the house was contacted by the cops who supported the locals' evidence. Joe felt like he had barely slept when the alarm went off on his phone. Cynthia took her arm off her husband and looked at him. The two of them had a chat the previous night when they had come back to bed. Now she looked at him, the strain was evident on her husband’s face. “Did you know the extent of the hauntings?” she asked him carefully as he turned to look at her. “No. No one told me anything at all, just that there were rumors, but if we stuck together, we’ll be all right. I don’t even think they knew that the main house was an issue.” Joe replied thoughtfully.

He told me there was a book in his office that had the safe hidden inside. The book was about ghost towns, so he doubted Zane would have found it. That is when I learned that Zane was afraid of ghosts. At first, I thought it was funny, that Zane feared something that wasn’t real until I thought about it. If werewolves and other creatures were real, maybe ghosts were too. Thinking that, a chill ran down my spine, causing me to shiver. It wasn’t funny after all, because if ghosts were real, I would be afraid too.

“I don’t know, Luna Ava. I’ve seen some weird stuff in my time. You can’t always explain everything with logic.” “Like what?” Chris asked, shooting Mike an intrigued look that left me a bit taken aback. Mike’s expression grew more serious, his voice dropping to a near whisper. “Well, I grew up in a haunted house. No joke.” I couldn’t help but roll my eyes as I took a bite of my pot pie. “Come on, Mike. There’s no such thing as ghosts.” “No, really,” he insisted, leaning closer. “Things would move on their own, and we would hear voices at night. Sometimes we would see shadowy figures in the hallways. It got so bad that my parents had to get a medium to cleanse the place.”

They made a couple of movies about it, one that was pretty good way back, and one that well… wasn't… not too long ago. This place reminds me of that book.' We all nodded, even though we had never read it. Everyone felt weird looking at the place like something's using its normal walls as a disguise. 'So, do we just walk in?' Kelly was still indecisive.
