WHAT'S NEXT!!?? I am taking the month of November off from my current series to participate in NaNoWriMo. For those who don't know what that is, I'd like to explain. NaNoWriMo is the National Novel Writing Month. During November, writers from around the world will challenge themselves to start a new project and write 50,000 words in 30 days! This is the first year I'm going to give this a try. I've got a group of other authors who are doing this with me, and we are going to support each other through the p

Some days the sun will shine down some days the moon will cry out. Heize Kalmon ❤️ This has been the hardest three weeks of my life. No November just work and making plans. There were many times I felt like calling Kaez to do whatever he wanted to do so I could rest, but if I had done that, he’d know I’m frustrated and he’ll think he has got me. I still don’t know if he has noticed that November and I aren’t together. This is just very frustrating, and I’m tired. I leaned back on my office seat, looking at the view from my office, it has always had a way of calming me down.

I understand that you want to set their emotion of longing for a change before you present the change, but this voids your chapter one, and gives your story a slow pace. I'm not saying that it would never ever work in a million years, but why use the readers' patience when you can lure them in with more effective content? Let's end with an example: We have a contest on, so let's use one of the themes. I'm asked a lot about the third theme (rejection), so let's look at this one.

He was at the desk, but the file was closed and he was writing something. Not on the laptop. By hand. The specific quality of someone writing something that required the slower version. She went to the library. She did not interrupt. At five he found her. "I wrote something," he said. "Tell me." "Not yet," he said. "October. I'll give it to you in October." She held his gaze. "All right." "It's not long," he said. "I'm not someone who writes long things. But it needed to be written, and I've been trying to write it since January. I finally found the right version today."

October came to Blackwood territory. The seventh October. The trees changing. The light going low and golden. The hall catching the afternoon light in the upper windows. I was in the hall on a Tuesday morning when I sat with something honestly. The story had been going for a long time. The chapters had accumulated. Each one a step from the one before. The network restored. The consultation running. The institution established. The bond health work extending. Article Eleven on the horizon. Real things. True things.

It gave me those sad puppy eyes like, “Hey, don’t forget meeeee...” Fast forward to April 2nd, the day of destiny when I finally dusted off this bad boy and said, “Okay, let’s get weird.” Suddenly, words started flying faster than Juan’s bullets. I was writing like my laptop was on fire, smashing out thousands of words daily, fueled by caffeine, stubbornness, and maybe a little bit of madness. By May? Boom. Over 100,000 words of delicious, messy, mafia madness. (Shakes booty happily).

For September, I'm going to try to have TWO CHAPTERS PER DAY, so I can fulfill my promise of finishing the story by the end of the month (I'm expecting that to happen on the 25th or 26th). Even Johnny and Ryle were good at it too. They all have great writing skills. The vivid descriptions and metaphors they used can make a woman's melt instantly. Days quickly passed by giving us memorable moments every single day. And now it’s already the 30th of December. “Thank you, Lola,” I said and gave my grandmother a warm embrace. “Happy New Year.” I gave my grandfather a hug too.
