She even wants to make a blood oath with Bella, Citra, and a Crone High Priestess, vowing to give up her powers as soon as our side wins and the Riding Hoods are gone. I can’t blame her for wanting to leave this life behind. I would too.

My chest tightened. They'd all already been suspicious. Nyx stepped forward, her expression calm. "That's enough, Ria," she said firmly. Ria tried to get a word in but Nyx wasn't having it. "I said that's enough!" She commanded with a raise of her hands, her eyes flashing with anger. The hairs at the back of my neck stood at the blazing look in her eyes. She was being defensive of Grayson. Had she also known? Ria's anger skyrocketed at the harshness of Nyx's tone. "Don't fucking yell at me!" She screamed back, her face twisted in rage. "Rather yell at your so-called Alpha who's sex-starved for human pussy!" she spat, her words dripping with venom.

“You’re not my enemy.” The admission slipped out unguarded. Silence bloomed between them. His breath slowed. “You should reconsider that.” “Why?” “Because I will choose Briarcrest,” he said quietly. “Every time.” The certainty in his voice cut clean. Nyx nodded once. “Good to know.” She stood, tray in hand. The moment closed like a door. But her pulse wouldn’t settle. That night, the academy lights burned later than usual. Storm clouds gathered again, pressing low over the towers. Nyx sat cross-legged on her dorm floor, their joint model glowing on her screen. It was perfect. Balanced. Efficient. Stable. She hated it.

‘Nigel’ was code for Nyx. Aidan snorted. “Like Da.” “Nah, more rational. Nix looked into the glass case, seeing a beautiful necklace that she wanted to get. It was silver, with a dragon entwined with what looked like a tree. It was amazing when Nikki finished measuring Sage. Nix told her she wanted to buy the necklace and what looked like wooden rings, with a thread of silver in them. Yumi's POV - 5ft, 11 inches tall, alloy-orange long hair held in a male bun, amazonite eyes, and a funny sweet smile. That’s Nyx; my ex and first love. He’s only two years older than I am and he’s been mated to someone else for the past two years, and I’m deeply overjoyed he’s going to be a dad. “You look more excited than I do.” Nyx smirks and proceeds to say, “So, how’s it like now that you’ve found your mate?” I stiffen to stillness and everyone laughs at me.

SKY’S POV I could see a slight grin on NYX's mouth and then “Joking brother, I'm joking haha” she bursts into laughter and “hahahahahah” very funny how dare she? I was so pissed. “At least she's funny” Ryder muttered to me “that's Nyx for you.” “Will you ever stop these childish games?” Ryder asked her and all she could do was laugh while walking away.. “this was a joke but the next may not be, her father may actually track her down some day anyways” she said.

He left and I let my head fall back against the wall, closed my eyes and tried to ignore the burning in my wrists. That was either brilliant or the stupidest thing you’ve ever done, Nyx said in my head, stronger than she’d been in hours. “Probably both,” I muttered. “But I’m out of options and if he wants to play pretend I can use that.” He’s unstable, Nyx warned. I can smell it on him even from here. One wrong move and he’ll snap. “Then I better not make any wrong moves,” I said, and felt her grim agreement ripple through our connection.

Sasha sat in the secret office of the Vegas Casino, her black mask concealing her face.
