Let me tell you, I put an end to her foolish notions right quick.” “How many mates do you have?” I ask, trying to divert the conversation to less dangerous waters. “Six, your majesty.” The Alpha puffs his chest out like this is something to take pride in. “And you?” “Just the one,” I say and get up, stretching languidly.

Scoot in and sit your furry butts down.” I ignored the look my mum threw in my direction. Geez, I didn't even say a bad word… or did I? The pups gathered in a rough circle. Rowan stayed where he was, but I saw the way he listened. "So," I began, "there are six main wolf packs. Each one has its own Alpha, its own land, and its own madness." That made a few of them giggle.

I can imagine they’re all gawping at his hotter than hot body. Orrin suddenly leaps into the air, shifts in a split second, and lands on all fours, the proud Alpha he is less than a second later. I instinctively take a step back – or rather, Asha does. We both see it, the huge wolf in front of us. I have never seen a wolf so big before! How can Orrin’s wolf stand so tall? He has to be at least eight feet on all fours. How is that possible? He has eyes of white, fur of charcoal, silver and white, and he has a black dipped tail and a body so strong, I imagine he could rip a bear to shreds all by himself.

He didn’t have time to focus on it though, C36M657 was being led onto the stage. “Wolf number C36M657. Born wild, captured when he was 8 years old.” A murmur rose through the crowd. “Undefeated after fighting for 24 years! This remarkable specimen is truly one of a kind. He has a second speciality as personal, so even if you’re not looking to join the fights, this could still be the wolf for you. Let’s start the bidding at one million.”

I was even more interested in this story; I needed to know. “It was Orion,” my heart sank into the depths of my stomach. “Orion was the first wolf to ever be mated to a human.”

“I’m sorry that I let him touch something that was yours but it’s okay now. I’m okay now Six.” I could feel the vibration of his growl against the bridge of my nose and I rubbed it against his skin as he spoke in a slightly calmer toner. “But he touched you. You let him touch you. I can smell his stench all over that shirt.” Werewolves were extremely territorial obviously and having another wolf’s scent on something that was claimed to be another’s was a huge deal to them. Wolf’s were all about scents because we used it more than a human did touch. So I knew that Six was just worried about me but his wolf half was over the fact that I was safe and pissed that another wolf had gotten his scen

Another guy stood up, "I'm Ralph Bensen, a member of the beta hounds pack too. I like trekking. If you like to go trekking sometime, I'm pleased to help you." Lucian hit on Ralph's shoulder and made him sit in his place. "I'm Jacob Elrod, member of stealth Mane pack." "I'm Teo, a human." looked at the guys beside him and made a smile at me. "I'm Rudina Hart, alpha female of a howling jaws pack. Nice to meet you, Ms Hopper." Why are there so many werewolves in this class than humans? I saw the guy who helped me from the bus terminal to the school. The talkative guy? He's in this class too?

“My beloved.” Cold washes over me as Nyxara steps from the shadows like a nightmare taking shape. She looks divine, terrible, and furious all rolled into one. Her gown looks like it was woven from the night sky, and her eyes burn the same violet shade as my wolf’s, except twisted into something cruel. “Get away from him,” I snarl, pulling Kael against my chest. Nyxara smiles. It’s the kind of smile wolves make before biting. “Oh, little wolf,” she purrs. “You think you can keep what belongs to me?”

Husk commanded. I bristled, but I was also starving and refused the idea of denying myself food merely to prove a point. I hated the alpha wolf bullshit. It was stupid. Besides, fainting from lack of food wasn’t smart while I was a prisoner in this pretty palace with three strangers...three werewolves who made me want to stay and learn more about them. Where they were from and how they had become so rich and to own a place like this? “We’ve got it from here. You can leave now,” Husk turned off the cooker and gave a look that would have sent many wolves back home whimpering into a submissive pose.

I try to get up, I try to stand but there’s not enough movement and I just end up flailing like an idiot. Someone snarls behind me and I roll over seeing one of them, one of the Wolves. He bares his teeth stepping nearer. He has a huge gash down the side of his head, blood is pouring out. His eyes are flashing with anger. It looks like he’s about to turn, to let his inner Wolf out. I whimper trying to crawl away and another snarl echoes. The Wolf looks up and my skin prickles even more at the sight. We’re surrounded. There’s six of them. Six new Wolves.
