She walked towards me along with Dad first and we took blessings before they moved towards Maha. “You both can remove the caps now. “What brings you by?” Mitch held out the knife, the white eagle feathers gleaming against the handle. “We were hoping you could bless this for me. It’s part of a path I need to walk... a final step I need to take.” Pastor Brooks took the knife gently in his hands, his eyes softening as he examined the feathers. He nodded, understanding the significance of the moment. “I can certainly bless this,” he said, his voice steady. “And I will pray for you, Mitch. For guidance, for strength. You will walk a hard road, but remember, you are never alone. God walks with you.”

At the end of the ceremony, Luke leaned in to whisper something in Jerry’s ear who had nodded and then repeated it to Nadine who simply nodded. Brian, James and Luke stepped forward, closed their eyes and their bodies shook for a second. When the boys opened their eyes the pastor crossed himself quickly and held up a crucifix towards them. Brian was the first to open his mouth, his lips did not move, and yet, a deep baritone voice filled the air. “I, Robert James Thomas, hereby bless thee with a long life, full of prosperity and love, with the knowledge to care for thy family, from now until forever, until death does thy part and the years after.”
