it had been an inside job. It hadn’t been hard to track down the house where he had grown up. The house that had been home to Chuck and Maria McGregor. He rolled to a stop in the driveway. The garden Maria had so cherished was now a small, wild, snow covered thicket. Dirt littered the small compound. Epiphytes wrung themselves round anything they could. “I trust you. Not them.” I step closer, resting a hand on his chest. “This isn’t just any witch. It’s Delaney. And she needs help.” Before he can argue, Kyle walks in, half‑awake, rubbing his eyes. “What’s going on?” Aaron opens his mouth, but I beat him to it. “We’re going to Hallow’s Edge,” I say. “Delaney Warren called.” Kyle’s eyes widen. “The Delaney Warren? The one who disappeared?” “Yes.”
