THE PARKING LOT INCIDENT. BRIDGET “Oh my God! Someone help!” I screamed, my voice echoing through the empty parking lot. My heart was pounding as I rushed toward the man lying on the ground. He was motionless, his body sprawled awkwardly on the cold concrete. Blood pooled beneath him, staining his white shirt a deep crimson. I knelt beside him, my hands hovering over his chest, unsure of where to touch without causing more harm. My mind raced with questions. What had happened to him? Who had stabbed him? Why was he here? But there was no time to think about that now. The man in front of me was dying, and I had to do something to help him.

The sight of Fred bleeding on the pavement, and Noah pacing with his phone to his ear, said it all. I’d crossed a line tonight. And there was no going back.

Vale steps back, eyes wide—not with concern, but with fear of consequences. “I—I didn’t mean—” she stammers. But she doesn’t move or help. She just watches. I try to speak, but my voice breaks. “Please… help…” She turns away and leaves me bleeding on the sidewalk like I’m nothing. My hands shake as I reach for my phone, but it slips from my fingers and clatters to the ground. I sank to my knees, the world spinning, the city roaring around me. The world goes dark.

Sid growled, "Damn, I told you we need an ambulance!" "Fucking hell," Giles wiped his face before approaching me, "Are you okay? You're not in pain?" I shook my head and felt a tremor in my chest. Oh my gosh! Am I really bleeding? Aren’t they kidding? Where is the blood? "W-Where's the blood?" I asked. "On your buttocks," Sid replied quickly. "W-We need to call an ambulance," he looked around as if looking for something, his confusion was obvious because of his actions, he was restless. "Damn it! Where's my phone?"

They started asking questions, things I couldn’t properly answer because my head was foggy and the pain had worsened and was interrupting every thought I tried to form. “Stay on the line, help is on the way,” the voice said. I nodded even though they couldn’t see me, my hand tightening around the phone as I tried to stay upright. I felt something trickling down my legs and slowly looked down, my heart already sinking before my brain could process what I was seeing. I was bleeding. It was running down my thighs, soaking through my clothes and dropping slowly on the floor. “No… no, no, no,” I said quickly, shaking my head.

The impact hurt, my shoulder blades immediately began to ache. Instinctively my knee came straight up, directly into his groin. He let go and backed away, hunched in pain. “Fucking bitch!” He yelped out, but he didn't retaliate back, which was unlike him. He glared for half a moment before taking off. “What the hell just happened?” I asked Lily. Pat interjected. “Mom's been trying her hardest to help him. It's slow progress, as you can see, but she really is trying. I'm honestly surprised he didn't go through with it.” This time, Pat did smile. “I'm also glad.”

In the background, the scream of sirens draws closer. And above that sound... ... another scream... drawn out... shrieking louder... closer... Heads turn, faces raise and the shouldering crowd abruptly disperses even further around me to clear a circle as something smashes down, like wet paper, onto the sidewalk, then lies still, a crumpled bloody mass. High above, I see another figure, leaning over the parapet, looking down. Even at this distance, I can make out the glint of sunlight on blond hair.

The sidewalk outside should have been in view from where he stood, but he couldn’t spot her. A knot twisted in his stomach. He stepped outside—then saw the crowd gathering. People murmuring. Phones held high. He pushed forward. When he saw the basil and the torn packet on the ground, soaked in red, his legs nearly gave out. "Delilah…" he whispered. His chest clenched. His feet moved before his brain caught up. He dropped to his knees beside her. She was losing too much blood. Her lips were pale. Her eyes fluttered but didn’t focus.

A white rose lay on the floor dripping with blood. A small, shiny blade lay beside it. A beautiful object in such a terrible and painful condition. The blood stain on it did not hide it's immaculate and beautiful nature. She puffed smoke in the air and took a sip of the liquor beside her, as she glared at the bleeding rose with sad and anguish filled eyes, it told a lot about her and her agony. She was as beautiful as the rose in front of her.
