MasukCasey POV
My mood was totally shot, especially when I saw Noah, this guy I didn't even know, looking at my phone and laughing at me. I snatched my phone back, hard. All the fear I had a second ago just poof, vanished.
"That's none of your business!" I yelled.
"Don't lie to yourself. Your eyes can't hide it. You're definitely hurting, right?"
"What do you want from me? Why are you suddenly here, acting like you know me? I don't know who you are. Just stop bothering me!"
I must've been nuts. This was the first time I'd ever talked that boldly. The pain from Anthony's cheating was just gnawing at me. I couldn't think straight right now.
"Look at you." Noah stayed chill, still smiling at me. "They're watching you yell like a maniac."
"I don't give a shit!"
I couldn't hold it in. Tears just poured down my face like a waterfall. My chest felt tight. How could Anthony do this to me? Three years of our relationship, just meant nothing.
"You wanna forget all this?" Noah spoke up again.
"Just leave me alone."
"Really?" Noah gestured to some students walking by, staring at me looking like a hot mess.
Suddenly, I felt so embarrassed. They were watching me cry. Noah went back to his bike, getting ready to peace out from campus.
"I'll go if you really want me to."
What now? I couldn't go home looking like this, totally wrecked, but I couldn't get a grip on my emotions. I was seriously heartbroken. I didn't want Mom to see me like this. She already felt guilty for making me do the long-distance thing. If she found out Anthony cheated with Nathalie, she'd totally blame herself. Mom's already a wreck from her divorce. I didn't wanna make things worse.
"Hold on!"
I rushed over to Noah, then hopped on his bike.
"Woo, the swan's not scared of the wolf anymore."
"Just take me away. Hurry up."
Noah grinned. Without a second thought, he peeled out, taking me away from campus. He started slow but picked up speed. I'm usually a total chicken, but right now, the pain in my heart was bigger than anything. Tears kept streaming down my cheeks. All those sweet memories with Anthony kept replaying in my head.
I didn't even realize how far Noah took me. We ended up on a road right on the edge of a forest. Noah stopped his bike there, on the side of the road. It was midday, but the vibe here was like dusk. Sunlight barely filtered through the trees. The road was so empty, not crowded like back in the city.
Noah got off his bike, leaving me sitting there.
"Why did we stop here?" I was so confused.
"Why are you crying?"
I didn't wanna answer. Should I even tell him after he saw what happened to me?
"Your boyfriend cheated? Why are you acting like you're the most oppressed person in the world? You could just get him back, same way. Or even worse than what he did to you."
"Don't butt in."
"Then why are you with me right now?"
I sighed. Nothing to say because I'd done all this on impulse. I was confused why I was here, but I couldn't go home just yet.
"Wanna make your sadness go away?" Noah offered something in his voice.
"Don't you dare try to lead me astray."
Noah burst out laughing, totally mocking me.
"Alright, whatever you want. Fine, I won't butt in. I gotta go. Figure out how to get home yourself."
"You're gonna leave me here?"
"You're the one who told me not to bother you, right?"
"This is a forest!"
"Everyone in this town knows that. And no one has a problem with it."
"You're seriously such a jerk!"
I didn't wanna move. If Noah left me here, I'd be stuck. I didn't know my way home yet.
"So, you coming with me?"
I didn't answer, and Noah took that as a ‘yes.’ Honestly, I was just a bundle of nerves. He hopped back on his bike, drove it towards a busier area, but then we turned into a neighborhood with small streets. I barely saw any trash lying around here. Wow, this place was stunning. Now, I know why Mom picked this spot.
We pulled up to a building that looked like a diner, and out front, there were tons of bikes lined up. I remembered that forest bike with the rose and skull on the tank when it zoomed past my house.
"What is this place?" I asked when we finally stopped.
"You'll see," Noah replied.
I got off the bike. Noah just walked into the diner. I mean, I knew he would, but it was super quiet around here. I followed Noah inside. There was that rose and skull symbol again. Then I saw "Black Hell" written above the door. It hit me instantly: this was a biker gang's clubhouse.
My body just froze when I walked in. This place was more like a bar, packed with people who looked exactly like a biker gang. Some were chugging alcohol. Others were chatting super excitedly. I even saw a couple, like, totally making out, all hot and bothered.
"Noah!"
A guy with an exotic complexion yelled out. He walked over to us. He was tall and built. He wore a leather vest, and there was a skull tattoo on his temple. He was so intimidating.
"You brought something cute here," the guy said, looking at me with a flirty smile. I immediately felt a wave of fear. I hid behind Noah. Noah glanced back at me.
"What are you doing?"
"Why did you bring me here?"
"You wanted me to take you to a hotel?"
"Noah, this pretty girl's scared. Don't be so harsh on her." The guy smiled at me, but it was still kinda creepy. "Lady, let me introduce myself. I'm James Howard. Glad you could make it into this place."
I didn't know how to respond. This place was totally foreign to me.
"What the hell is it?"
A woman with short black hair walked over to us. She stared at me intensely. Her expression was sharp, and there wasn't a hint of a smile on her lips.
"Why did you bring a stranger here, Noah? I don't want any trouble. Fallen Bike will think we're breaking the agreement!" the woman snapped.
"She's my classmate. Let her hang out here for a bit. I'll send her home later," Noah said, just walking deeper inside. He left me with these two creatures.
My heart was pounding with fear. Why did I have to be here? I was seriously terrified. I tried to smile at them.
"Sherly, she's kinda cute," James said, looking at me and grinning.
"Shut your fucking mouth. I don't want any problems." The woman, Sherly, spun around. "Come here, Girl. Don't stand in the doorway. If anyone finds out you came into a den of bastards, we're gonna have problems."
Casey POVI’m sitting on my bedroom floor, staring off into space. My stomach’s killing me. Chills are shooting right through my bones. I know I’m gonna fight with my mom. It’s like we’re cursed to never get along. I know she loves me, but I’ll never get what goes on in her head. Why’d she have to meet Becky five years ago? Why did that whole thing have to happen? Why do I have to go through all this shit?“Darling, you need to eat dinner.”“I can take care of myself, Mom.”“I know you’re mad, but don’t hurt yourself over this.”I don’t wanna say anything. My mom never wants to get how I feel.Next morning I head out to the garage. I know I’m being stupid. I shouldn’t even be here. I should’ve just left my car here and headed back to Center City.“You’re here.” Jordan greets me.I smile, but inside I’m dying of embarrassment. My eyes drift to my car—still completely untouched.“Your car needs some serious TLC. How long’s it been since you brought it in? You skip maintenance or what?”
Noah POV“How about I move in with you in Wood Town, Noah?”Reemar, all bright and cheery, dropped that on me out of nowhere. Not like I saw it coming.”Oh, wow. That’s… that’s a dope idea… but honestly? You’re better off staying in Center City.”“Why? You said you wanted to date me, didn’t you?”“Hm, yeah. But I like a little challenge. And aren’t you still trying to get back at your ex-fiancé? I can just come visit you in Center City and… ““That’s what you’re thinking about? Noah, you actually want to get revenge… “I flashed her a smile. One I knew would make her melt. She pulled me in, and next thing I knew, we were making out. It didn't take long ‘til I had her clothes off. I turned into a total animal up there on the bed. Been way too long holding back all this tension. Reemar knew her way around. Her body was on fire, and kept me on my toes. I got her off fast, then took what I wanted. That’s all it was. Yeah, just that. But… nah. Who am I kidding? I had a plan. And Reemar? Sh
Casey POVSlap!!“Stay the fuck away from Reemar, Noah! You can hit on anyone else but not my friend, not Reemar!”My blood was boiling. I couldn’t control my body. As soon as Reemar told me Noah had been hitting on her, I hopped in my car and drove straight to his garage.Noah was quiet. He was sitting on a car hood, staring at me with a tiny, mocking smile.“Why? Do you fucking care?”I let out a cold laugh. “Of course I do. Reemar’s my friend. She’s not like all those other girls you can just destroy.”“Destroy her? Who’s destroying who, Casey? What do you even think of me?”“You mean to tell me you’re actually trying to date Reemar? You think I’d buy that shit?”“Hmmm. I’m dead serious. I do want to date her. She’s cute, she’s honest. She sees me for who I am without looking down on me.”“Did you tell her you’ve been to jail?”“I’m serious about Reemar. There’s nothing I’d hide from her.”I tugged at my hair in frustration. My thoughts were all jumbled. Noah’s answer was clear, bu
Noah POVSilence mixed with tension flooded the air. I went quiet after spilling everything I’d been holding in for so long. And Casey… man, she was crying, crying like someone who’d just lost everything. The damage I’d taken was too much. Losing James wasn’t easy, and then Black Hell getting shut down on top of that? My dad treated me like a stranger now, even though he gave me a fresh start after I got out of jail. But without James and Black Hell, I was just a loser.“Get out of here, Casey. Wood Town ain’t good enough for you,” I said, making sure my voice was cold as ice.Casey was the reason all this happened. My biggest regret was not listening to James. I never should’ve gone near her, but… even though I was so mad. Even though I blamed her for every single problem, there was a part of me that missed her. I couldn’t help it.“I am sorry,” Casey whispered, her voice scratchy. “Forgive me for causing all this.”I took a deep breath. “Apologize don't bring James back, Casey.”“Th
Casey POV“Come on, Casey. Why are you sitting here like you’re worth nothin’?”Reemar grabbed my hand, tugging me toward the river.“No, no, Reem. I can’t… “I wasn’t ready to get soaked in river water. I just wanted to tag along with him.“Good idea!”Noah popped up from the water, climbing onto the bank. His eyes had that look. The one I knew all too well. That damn sneer of his was familiar as hell.“No, Noah, no!”Noah shook his head. He closed in on me, lifting my body with Reemar’s help.“Fuck, let me go!”They swung me around. Laughing their asses off. The river water was like it was waving at me. Oh, no…In seconds, my body was flying into the river. One minute the air was free and clear. The next, cold, crisp water was wrapping around me. I lost control for a second, water flooding my nose and mouth, but only for a beat before my brain snapped back to reality. I tried to push my head up, kicking my legs. The current was a little strong. I could stand, but my foot slipped. I
Casey POV“Going out?” I raised my voice as Reemar tried to talk me into hanging out.Real talk, I’d asked for a week in Wood Town just to chill. My schedule in Center City was insane, and it was all so emotionally draining. I needed a break from all the chaos. And one of the reasons I didn’t stay at my mom’s place? I really wanted some me-time, just for myself.“Please, Casey. Noah made time for us. He said he wants to show us around Wood Town.”“Us?” I mumbled, taking a deep breath.Reemar gave me those puppy dog eyes. You know the ones, like he wasn’t gonna back down till I said yes.“Alright, alright, but… “ I trailed off, hinting at conditions.“I’ll go along with whatever rules you lay down.”I couldn’t say no to Reemar. Even though he never said it out loud, I knew his heart was broken. He was trying to distract himself from it all. I’d checked his fiancé’s socials, and the dude posted wedding pics. Reemar still hadn’t unfollowed him. Which meant he hadn’t fully let go of Patri
