Turn Around and Start Anew
Knowing I loved an independent designer, he mobilized all his connections and got a rare autographed sketch for me.
When I was stressed, he would drag me to the beach, listen to my vent, and crack jokes to cheer me up.
He was great, but I was divorced and older by three years. I felt unworthy of his affection. Besides, it could be a fleeting crush, so I only saw him as a little brother.
When he confessed to me the seventh time, I said, "I'm not worth it. You deserve someone better."
He looked at me and spoke seriously. "I love you. You had me at hello. Age and your past don't matter. I'll wait until you're ready."
