she said and then looked at me before going back to the paper she was holding. 'Life isn't as it seems.....' She said and then smiled. I mentally laughed at how that line was the first line I used to start the true story I submitted last week. "The title of this story is... A NIGHTMARE HOLIDAY..." That was what mattered. I closed my eyes and allowed his thudding beat of breath to guide mine, mother and son falling into symphonic silence. Within this tiny room scripted with wolves and stars, I made another quiet promise to the Moon in the sky above the windowpane: to remain still to blank pages and do-overs, to still draw light and possibility into our story for both of us, storm after storm.
