He's the shogun of Wano Country during the arc where the Straw Hats finally arrive there, and let me tell you, this guy is the epitome of corruption and cowardice. What’s wild about Orochi is how he’s not just a typical power-hungry villain—he’s deeply tied to Wano’s tragic history. He’s actually a descendant of the Kurozumi Clan, a family that was persecuted by the people of Wano, which kinda explains (but doesn’t excuse) his twisted desire for revenge. His alliance with Kaido, the Yonko, turned Wano into a wasteland, exploiting its people and resources while he lived in luxury. The way Oda crafted him is fascinating because he’s not physically strong at all; his power comes from his Devil Fruit, the Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Yamata no Orochi, which lets him transform into a massive eight-headed serpent. But even with that, he relies entirely on others to do his dirty work.

What really gets me about Orochi is how he embodies the worst aspects of unchecked authority. He’s paranoid, petty, and downright sadistic, especially in how he treats the citizens of Wano and even his own subordinates. Remember that scene where he orders the execution of an entire town just because they laughed at him? Chilling stuff. His design is also super symbolic—those exaggerated, almost comical features clash with the sheer horror of his actions, which feels like a deliberate choice by Oda to highlight how absurd and grotesque tyranny can be. And don’t even get me started on his voice in the anime; it’s this whiny, grating tone that perfectly captures his entitlement. By the time the raid on Onigashima rolls around, you’re practically cheering for his downfall. His eventual fate is one of those moments where 'One Piece' delivers this visceral satisfaction, but also leaves you thinking about the cycles of vengeance and how they poison everything. Orochi might not be the flashiest villain in the series, but he’s one of the most hateable—and that’s saying something in a world with guys like Doflamingo.
