I cocked my head, hearing every whispered word through the morning stillness. “I didn’t expect it to feel this way,” Nova confessed softly, her voice raw with emotion. “I’m terrified of him, Ophelia. I know how demons are, I—you’ve seen what’s become of Coop, but I’m mated to him. How the fuck is that possible? I’m cursed, aren’t I? That has to be it.” I rolled my eyes at her dramatics, but that seemed to be the case. Clearly, she was cursed. How the fuck else could sunshine and rainbows end up with an apex predator from another realm? Goddess, the irony.

Alexis giggles. “What are you planning on?” She asks curiously. “I caught a rose scent from him when I stood beside him after Altarria pushed me down. I know somebody who has the same smell. Beautiful and cute.” He states. Alexis smirks as she understands what her brother means. “Ah. A girl. I see.” She says. “Don’t mess with a maiden’s love, Onyx. You will suffer if you do.” Onyx laughs. “You do have a good sense of humor. Well, love is a strong weapon. Don’t you agree?” He asks. Alexis raises an eyebrow. Onyx crosses his legs and leans backwards. He cunningly twirls the chess piece in his hand.

“Kneel.” The phoenix hesitated, then clenched its fist. “Chosen One, you can’t humiliate us like this.” “I’m only humiliating you.” James retorted impatiently. “If you don’t kneel, I’ll kill you right now.” Feeling deeply humiliated, yet intimidated by James’ aura, the phoenix reluctantly knelt down. James nodded and suddenly reached out to grab its head. A vast Historial Great Curse immediately flooded its body. With countless Curse Inscriptions enveloping its body, the phoenix let out a heart-wrenching scream.

No one knew the full story only that wherever Orion walked, blood tended to follow. "You've been following me," she said, voice flat. Orion tilted his head, smiling faintly. "Not hard.
