This was the first time Felix had ever heard Yvonne sound so distressed. His emotions were stirred by her sobbing. "What happened? Tell me!" he shouted. "There's an outbreak of some unknown illness at an orphanage in Canraville. Can you go there? Those poor kids are suffering terribly," Yvonne explained. An orphanage? Felix didn't need to ask why or how this was connected to Yvonne. He only knew that these children, who had already had an unfortunate life, were now enduring physical torment as well. It was too heartbreaking.

I promised myself that one day,I will build an orphanage because I saw how kids were suffering in the orphanage when they took me in after my father died. The kids in the orphanage didn't have enough food,proper clothing and somewhere nice to sleep because the place was overcrowded.The memories made my heart ache inside my chest. Even though the heavens never gave me a chance to be a mother.I wouldn't like to witness children suffering on the streets.Some of them sleep in streets because they have nowhere to go. I looked at my father's picture on the table and picked it up.My eyes welled up with tears and my lips curved into a smile.I ran my fingers over the picture.

I wonder if she abandoned any children there. Since she went out with so many men, she might have accidentally gotten pregnant and put the child inside so as not to hinder her in her next conquests. She concluded like she had been repeatedly saying for the past seven minutes. Her warm smile was still glued to her face and her hands gently placed on each other on her laps as she stood, but her mind was in a great war, she really wanted to lash out on him for being so stubborn, frustrating her and wasting her time. Gabriella Torres was, well a very simple girl from an extremely humble background, she became an orphan at age sixteen and had struggled with life ever since. This was her Eighth day on this job though, she didn’t have even the slightest idea who Jayden was and the stature he represented, even if she knew she didn’t seem like she would care.

I had arrived at school a little bit late today because I had to accompany favour to the hospital. Her sickness was getting worse and she needed to get her operation done as soon as possible. Favour is the only family I have left and I am very willing to so anything, just anything to make sure she gets better. Most couples wanted babies or toddlers: too young to know that they were abandoned, easily raised and molded, no need to tell them where they really came from until they were adults themselves.

I saw myself growing up in an orphanage home run by the Reverend Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary popularly called, IHM briefly. They were a religious group of nice people who thought it wise to fangle a foundation under the church. Their successful mission was to provide a home for many of the homeless kids that plagued the ghetto streets of Ajelli. They fed us, clothed us, and most times people who were living comfortably and those who had things to spare visited us with few measures of rice, loaves of bread, worn out clothes and even faded shoes that they no longer use. We always expected them and they never disappointed, each time they visited, it was Christmas for us. We felt loved.
