Best player on the ice, and I don't say that lightly. He had a read on the game that made everyone around him better just by being there." I go very still.

Kael had been his mate. Not a partner or a companion or any of the words that existed in the overlap between significant and informal. His mate, in the full, specific, wolf-nature sense of the word, the bond that had been real and had been chosen and had been built into something lasting over four years before it became something that was no longer possible to build because Kael had died.

The scowl does something to my features that make my interest sharpen instantly. “…so let me be the one to announce it officially. Noah Carter is your new teammate.” Coach says a few words about practice schedules, then claps me on the shoulder and leaves me with the wolves. Theodore doesn’t bother trying to get to know me unlike the rest of the team. He just starts moving immediately, heading for the exit. “Please, excuse me…” I don’t think. I just follow. “Hey,” I call out, lengthening my stride. “Hold up.”

When I arrived at the Indoor Sports Hall the rest of my team was already there, I was breathless when I arrived. I felt a sudden pang on my hips. Since I was in a hurry, I was not able to rub ointment and put patches on my hips, I was not able to drink Tylenol as well. I made a mental note to go back to my room to do what I was not able to after the match. "Who are we up against?" I asked Jenny, she was a fourth year. "Beta," she replied grimly. Maybe going against Beta first was a good thing, if we win against them, I could swap with someone else for the championship. I trusted my teammate enough to win against Kappa or Zeta even without me.

he sighed while looking down at his feet. "You know what, I became friends with some people. They're nice and genuine. They treat me like a baby. Just like how you used to do. I told you their names already. Tristan, Zayden, Logan and Rowan. We are called N team. We all have N at the ending of our names. Funny right!? Now there's a girl her name is Hazel! She's just like me sometimes. And Tristan is trying hard to get her." he laughed while recalling yesterday's incident.

With her message, I feel more than ready to tear the other team apart and even more ready celebrate with her. I have something planned out already—a special celebration dinner for us. At Rory’s restaurant, and I had also- "O'Connor!" It was Vince, one of my teammates and he was looking at me like the other team mates were looking at me. Like I had grown a second head painted in the colors of the opposing team- okay not everyone, Laurel was grinning at me like the damned fool that he is! My teammates were huddled together, fists out and ready but I was busy daydreaming about Rory.

My nine teammates are sitting at a long, rickety wooden table and they all give me dirty looks, but only someone dares to approach me. A tomboyish beta slightly thinner and shorter than me, with dirty blonde hair in a ponytail and gym clothes. "I don't have time or desire to communicate with any of you," I tell her before she has time to give me a piece of her mind. "Look, I don't like communicating with hollow princesses either, but I'm warning you to shut your mouth when you have to. Like it or not, we're a team and if you do something this stupid again..."

I craned my neck before jumping into the ring with a mocking smirk. They have a great teamwork. Whenever my hand is busy with one, the other will answer. They are good, I give them that but they are getting flustered every time their attack doesn't work. The whole area was noisy while watching us. Of course, most of them are really rooting for their teammates. Well, I take that as they are too shy to root and shout for me.

We were already 10 minutes late and my phone had been blowing up with calls from my other teammates. “I’m so sorry, I got caught up in traffic.” I lied. I took my name tag from one of the organizers. “Shut your lying ass.” Ariana teased me. “We all know you’re never early.” She was my favorite teammate and she made my work with them more interesting and bearable. My manager came into the room we were all in. I didn’t like him but I had to put up with him because I needed him to get us to competitions and the prices were really helpful.

I said and they all finally looked up at me. “You have to learn to work together, we’re a unit, a team, one missing piece or fuck up and we crash; I don’t know your issues with one another but you need to suck it up and put all of the bullshit behind you when were on this field weather practicing or a game we forget all of it” I said.
