"Are you really going to watch your mother die?" The longer she talked, the steadier she became. Six years of marriage had taught her exactly where my weakness was. She was right. They were a wonderful couple, so in love and such loving parents" Mary speaks quietly. "What happened?" I ask. "His mother died, breast cancer, and soon after his father withered away, didn't last more than a few months. Ashton was only 6 years old at the time" She explains in a sorrowful note.

I watched Mary's face on the screen as she recognized her opponent. Watched horror and grief and rage war across her expression. "No," she whispered. "No, that can't be her. My mother is dead." "Your mother is dead," Shade confirmed cruelly. "This is just the weapon we made from her body. She doesn't remember you. Doesn't remember anything except the commands we give her. And right now, her command is to kill you." The corrupted Evelyn attacked without hesitation. Mary barely dodged, rolling away from massive claws that could have disemboweled her.

Pain rolled through me until I doubled over. I clutched at my chest, and my mind was racing. My mom, Margaret Hale, had always been deeply spiritual. Claire grew up with her and ended up believing in spirits just as firmly. When Claire told me Mom had appeared in her dream, I thought it was just her missing Mom too much.

It didn't take long before Eleanor started crying. "What the fuck. Wake up. Please wake up. Goddammit!" She watched Mary lie lifeless on the ground and there was nothing she could do about it. She shook Mary's body countless times, expecting that she'd wake up but she didn't. Eleanor knew Mary was dead but it was too hard to believe that someone she was talking to a while ago was already dead. She had never seen someone die in such a brutal way.
