A boy’s voice is tinged with disdain as he speaks in a low whisper. Ignoring the sting of the words, I move to the next shelf, determined to finish my task. I run my fingers along the spines of the books, feeling the textured wear of countless hands that have held them before. I place another card in front of an ancient copy of Turned By Moonlight, the pristine white of the new card stark against the yellowed pages.

Most of them have only one picture on the page and are a quarter of the size of a regular book. "Shit." I say quietly. "I can't believe it still costs ten bucks for a book that only has six pages. I can get a two hundred page paperback at the grocery store for the same price." Tiffany smirks. "But does your two hundred page paperback have fur like this touchy-feely book with a tiger on the front?" "It has fur?" I grab it out of her hands and begin going through it, touching all the different pictures as I turn the pages.

Concentrating on a medical terminology book on a shelf, I call it to me, then stop it before it reaches me. “Page 75,” the book opens to the page, and I hear the words in my head. “Stop,” I say, then, “Page 283.” The pages turn, and then I hear the words again. “Stop, go back.” The book goes back to its place on the shelf. My attention then goes back to the spell book. Everything is handwritten and it

It was cut into, with a smaller book hidden within that took up the rest of the page space underneath. She carefully pulled it out. It was an old brown leather cover with brownish pages. A pretty old book. She gently set down Bigfoot and opened the book, instantly getting sucked in.
