I kept my back to it.
I held the frame steady while Alexandra leaned in, studying every inch. From the side, I noticed Sarah shifting uncomfortably.
“Something wrong?” I asked her.
She motioned subtly to Alexandra, who was still examining the painting. “Aren’t you guys worried it’s going to… you know, kill us?”
“It seems to only act at night,” Alexandra replied. “We should be safe during the day.”
William had been staring at the copy of the painting we’d gotten from the library. “Hey, look at this,” he said, passing it to Alexandra. “The razor—it’s closed in the photo, but open in the painting.”
