POV: Xander When I first saw that app that is very similar to the app Celia likes using to store information she wants to keep secret, believe me, I thought it was just a huge coincidence. I mean it’s just an app that can be installed if you know the right people to go to, so I wasn’t expecting anything else. I just assumed that maybe he got the app the same way Celia got hers, that was just the thought in my head before I started viewing the damn files.

My fingers flew and tapped on my screen faster than they ever had. “If it is so amazing then show it.” It was a challenge. And one that I would rather not take. “J-Just a minute. Here, it is. Oh, wait. Wrong tab. It’s actually-” Xander did not let me finish what I was about to say because he took the tab from my hands and began reading the contents. I did not know what article he was on because the back of my tablet was facing me. I just hope that whatever he was looking at right now would pass his taste.

“A reader. You attach it to any book, codex, or artifact that contains recorded knowledge. When activated, it transfers the contents directly, without opening the object or disturbing any seals bound to it.” His eyes sharpened with interest after my explanation. “Directly… to my mind?” I raised a brow at that. “No, mine,” I corrected subtly, “or to itself. It stores what it reads. The information can be retrieved later, intact. It doesn't depend on the creator’s mana, only activation.” Silence fell between us. Xeelany listened attentively to each word as she slowly progressed through each sentence. She tried to concentrate on every single syllable as she felt as if her mind was being filled with water from all those words flowing over each other in a never ending flow. “You should really try harder at understanding these,” Xavier chuckled as he put a bookmark in the book they were currently reading and closed it. “You’ve barely gotten through a fourth chapter now.”
