They were disappointed by the unexpected turn of events, and their desires remained unsatisfied. A crewman approached Xavier, gently extending a book that the mysterious author had borrowed the night before. Xavier's interest was immediately sparked as he opened the book, his gaze drawn directly to a marked page that held a surprise. As his gaze settled on the paper, Xavier was overcome with awe. At the very beginning of the specified page, there was a note written by the enigmatic author himself. It was a private message, intended just for Xavier, a reader who adored the author's work.

The counter-ritual was new information and it was important enough that I sat with it for a full minute before I kept going. Then I turned to the last page. ------ Xavier was waiting on the east terrace when I came out. Papa had evidently told him he could remain on the grounds while the trade paperwork was finalised. He was standing with his hands in his pockets, looking at the fence line, and he turned when he heard the door. I set the archive on the table between us and opened it to the first page. I didn't say anything. I let him read. He read slowly. He didn't rush it, didn't skim. He turned each page with the care of someone who understood that old documents meant something.

The warm water felt great, erasing the dust on my walk through the pack, relieving my aching muscles. After changing into a comfortable cream-colored dress, I stepped out of the bathroom feeling much lighter. When I entered the bedroom, I found Xander sitting near the window. His dark hair was damped from his own shower. He lifted his gaze from the book in his hand. "There you are." I smiled. "What are you reading?" He carried out the heavy hardcover book. "I found this in Father's old library." As I walked over, curiosity sprung to life in me. "It's about the history of Nightmare Pack."

Could you please tell me why I cannot read the next page or any other page? [Host has understood 1% of the content of the First Page] [The Second Page will be accessible after the Host gains 100% on the first page] You!! AGGHH! Why aren't you letting me be overpowered! [I've overpowered the host enough. Get to work!] As I thought of destroying the book, I became furious, but I calmed down immediately. Relax, it's nothing to worry about. There is no free meal available. I got a gist of how the book works, the reader moves onto the next page once they have understood 100% of that page.
