When he grins, the fir on the edges of his ears stick up, making him look like some kind of mythical fairy creature, and when he turns that smile on you, it feels like a thousand kisses. Parris Abernathy, the only tech mage of his generation, a hybrid trapped between forms, not quite a witch, and not quite a wolf either. Since that shared moment on the road, whenever we’re in a room together, my breath stops and my heart forgets how to beat. But I did not fret, I made an absorption spell and doubled it with another spell that would make their spell bounce back to them. Some was able to dodge, some did not. They kept doing the same thing until I got annoyed, they’re obviously teaming up against me. Esco, Aeolous and Aiden is battling against each other, far from us.

Gabriel the Fire Mage nodded; he was a man in his early 50s.

I gaze at him dubiously before opening the page and see words and symbols I have never seen before. But before I can say anything, he chants a spell again and automatically whatever gibberish was written shifts and reforms into readable words. My eyes widen and I file the question regarding this for later at the back of my mind. My eyes fall upon the word ‘Mage Wolf’

And that term was one, wolves rarely used. We know what it means. “You never say that!” Mary grabbed her throat above the collar and lifted her an inch or two from the ground. Shocking us all. The blonde mage was small and delicate. She certainly didn’t look like she possessed the strength to do that. But she is a mage! I reminded myself never to underestimate them. Especially not after I’d witnessed what Hawk and Magus could do. Mary drew the old woman close to her. The mages blue eyes began to swirl like whirlpools were in them.

he yelled at the Mage. The Mage summed up courage and confront him. He thought he could use some parlor tricks on him. "You have made a big mistake coming in here" he retorted. "And I will show you why that mistake is a big one" he tried to keep talking. "So why are you shaking? You want to show me I'm making a mistake but you are trembling. Who is making the mistake, you or me?" Dillon made jest of him. "Trembling?" the Mage was confused. He was sure he had himself composed. He checked himself out and stared at his fingers.

Megara shook her head and completely turned towards him, her back facing Agnes and her right side facing Evenor and Master Shin. "Stop lying." Megara gritted her teeth in anger and the man shook his head. "Check my memory." He said and then a man stepped forward. The same man who was a lion among foxes. He walked past Megara and towards the beaten-up blonde man. He was famous for his magic, he had the same magic that Marco's disciple had but a lot more powerful.

But I couldn't enjoy it—not while my mother is out there suffering… or maybe gone forever. Maximus and his men lead me to the Mage’s hut. It is small, tucked just a mile away from the pack house. I'm anxious and the ritual is close, but Maximus assures me the mage can be trusted—she is part of the pack, only living apart because of the curse. Still, I can’t shake my unease. “You!” she exclaims the moment her eyes land on me. Her eyes widen in disbelief, like she has just seen a ghost. Maximus clears his throat, his sharp glare warning her to stop staring.

"It’s not as cool as you think, Raven. At least, not in my case." I straightened up, my curiosity piqued. "What do you mean?" "I am a mage without active magic," she explained, her voice flat. "I only have it innately. I cannot create power from within myself. I need the assistance of charms and relics already infused with magic from sacred mountains to do even the simplest tasks." I blinked owlishly at her, wondering what kind of new mess this was. "I don't understand." "Just as there are wolves who cannot shift into beasts, there are mages who cannot wield magic independently," she said, beginning to walk again. "We are called siphoners. We can hold magic, and we can direct it, but we cann
