~Iris POV The sun had just begun to dip behind the western hills, casting long amber streaks through the tall windows of my private chambers. Mira sat cross-legged on the floor, leaning against the velvet sofa, a small smirk on her face as she held a video tape in her hands. I raised an eyebrow, curious and slightly wary. “You brought this?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. “I did,” Mira said, shrugging casually. “Thought you might want to see… how your little wolves are doing.”

"Mira will enjoy this. She’s still pissed about the breakfast drama." I stood up and walked to the window. I looked out over the mountains, but all I could see was Iris’s face. I wasn't thinking about the warehouse or the money the Russos would lose. I was thinking about how to eradicate them. I let Iris go so she could see the truth. I was letting her see that the world she missed so much was the same world that just called her a whore on national TV. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [ MIRA’S POV ] I checked the clip on my Glock and slid it into the holster at my hip. A wicked grin spread across my face. Salvatore finally gave me something fun to do.

I tried so hard, but all the energy I had mustered up wasn't doing anything. I closed my eyes, probably prepared to have my last moments when I heard a scream. It was one that awakened the sleeping beast inside of me. It was a howl so feral that I was suddenly energized. “Move!!” Mira yelled, drawing a bow. Her hands shook as she held the bow, drawing the arrow. The world paused for a second as she released the arrow with a scream. During our planning the previous night, she had predicted the sudden weakness and tiredness caused by the silver smoke.

“The pack is assembled.” Rex nodded. “I’ll be there.” Mira hesitated. “With… her?” “Yes,” he said simply. Mira studied her more closely this time—not hostile, not warm. Curious. Measuring. “Then it’s time she’s seen,” Mira said. The words sent a ripple of unease through her. “Seen how?” she asked. “As yours,” Mira replied calmly, looking to Rex. “Or not.” Rex’s jaw tightened. “She’s not an object.”

“Bring Keiral out. We go home together. You come with us. You sit with Keiral and me and Krav and Haden and you say everything you are too scared to say right now. Then you sleep. Then we work a plan that does not end with your blood on this floor.” Her hands curled. “What if there is no plan.” “Then we make one,” I said. “That is what we do.” Silence pressed. Far up the shaft, the cage creaked. A soft sound came from behind the catwalk door. A cough. Keiral. Mira’s head snapped toward it. Her control wavered. The silver bleed receded and then surged again. “Let me see her,” I said. “Now.” Mira swallowed. Then she nodded once, sharp and angry at herself for giving in. She turned and shouted

Their eyes met across the battlefield. “You’re too late,” Mira called, her voice echoing like thunder. “The storm is mine. The world will be reborn—free from Council lies, free from Vein shackles. Free of weakness.” “You’re the only one shackled!” Aria shouted back. “By your obsession. Your pain!” “I’m beyond pain,” Mira said, stepping down from the altar as the core above it began to spin, forming a vortex of silver and black. “I’ve become what we were meant to be!”

Everything seemed intact. But the note… The spy wasn’t coming from the outside. They were already here. Inside the warded tent, Mira moved toward the potion cache when she felt it. A shift. A breath that didn’t belong. She spun around—dagger drawn. But she was alone. Or so it seemed. Then her reflection blinked. And smiled. The mimic stepped from the shadows—a perfect copy of Mira, every freckle and line mirrored. But the eyes were wrong. Just a little too dark.

“Tell me again why the shoulders look like they could start a war?” Mira, her assistant who had become a close friend, said, holding up a jacket between two fingers as if it might attack her. Across the studio, Solana didn’t even look up from the cutting table. “Because the woman wearing it should look like she can start one.” Mira blinked, and then a smirk spread across her lips. “…I walked into that answer, didn’t I?” “Yeah, you did.”
