They were well dressed but not uncomfortably so. The werewolf was much taller than any she-wolf Chloe had ever seen. Chloe was instantly reminded of the tales of Amazonian warriors who were regarded for their beauty, strength and combat abilities. There was nothing but muscle on this female and yet she was beautiful with her eyes and thick long hair the same colour black of espresso coffee. Bronze skin peeked out from under the black uniform she was wearing that hugged her trim figure like a second skin. Chloe could tell this she-wolf was not to be messed with and yet her luscious lips were tilted into a friendly smile that even the coldest of hearts couldn’t resist. It took a few moments to

Chapter 13 The Detectives Scarlett’s POV I attempt to mind link my Beta to ask him if we have an ETA as to when the human cops are expected to arrive, but very quickly find that he’s blocking me from interrupting something that I don’t want to be a part of. I just smile and shake my head just as one of my patrols mind links me to let me know that an unmarked police car has turned onto the road between the Crimson Snow Pack and the Midnight River Pack.

His voice had that dangerous edge I knew too well. "It's my fault," Selene interjected with a theatrical sigh. "I made all my favorite dishes today. It's natural for Skye to be upset on her first day back. Skye, what would you like? I can prepare something else." Her eyes gleamed with triumph and challenge. But these tactics couldn't anger me anymore. "She's a grown wolf now, not some delicate pup. If you can eat it, so can she," my brother growled. "Skye, stop making everyone uncomfortable. Be sensible for once."

Every police station and fire station was empty, and the streets, filled, vehicles moving from one street to another, making sure they were empty. They watched the portal movement for a while until it stopped somewhere in byrant Park. It just sat there for a second and stopped pulling things in. Objects started pouring out of the portal instead, and seconds later, it was gone. "Someone tell my driver to bring my car around." Mr Skye said. "I'm going down there to check this out." Without another word, Nathan walked out of the room, leaving hundreds of people staring at their screens, confused. He walked down the hall and took the elevator down to the lobby.

"But what happened out there is not something that can be easily forgotten. It was a dangerous situation and one that could have ended up with the three of you dead." A tear rolled down her cheek, and the baby kicked. Catalina smiled as she stroked her stomach, saying "See? She even knows it was a bad idea. I promise, baby. Mommy is going to make better decisions from here on out." Catalina laughed through her tears. "What exactly was that thing, by the way?" "It's a Deathstalker. Not to be confused with a species of scorpion found in Middle Eastern deserts." "What, now?" She giggled.

Little Osiris is huddled in his mother's arms, trying to hide his little face from the angry mob threatening to kill them. "I tell you what," the Alpha finally smirks. "I will give you a head start." Skye doesn't need to be told twice. She takes off, running toward the forest. As she runs, her body morphs and shifts. I try to keep up with her, but she is too fast. The last I see is a golden lycan running away from the mob. Osiris's little face is peering over her shoulder, watching his home fade into the distance.

"You still think Skye's just some regular programmer?" Edward's tone was sharp with disbelief. "She's a top-tier hacker I managed to bring back through old connections! Letting her date you back then was me doing you a favor." Julian froze for several seconds, stunned speechless. When he finally found his voice again, it was full of incredulity. "Her?!" "Yes, her!" Edward barked, his patience gone. "Skye was the best match I could've arranged for you, and look what you've done! You went and got another woman pregnant—what a disgrace!"

She smiled gracefully and said, “Since my injury has been healed, I won’t bother you anymore, Dr. Yarde. “I still have to deal with some affairs at the lodge, so I’ll be back to see you again when I’m done managing those affairs, Dr. Yarde.” Christine left with Eira while Skye stayed because he had already committed himself to Kayson. On the other hand, Skye had already advanced to become a grandmaster yesterday night! Kayson checked the time and discovered that it was almost noon already. He was planning on getting lunch before he headed back to the company.

After he leaves, I'm alone with my thoughts and the text message I can't stop reading. Too many eyes on me. What is Vale doing to her? Why is she being watched? And why is she asking for help now, after three years of silence? Or maybe I’m reading too much into it. Maybe she just needs a favor that’s beyond his power to give. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking that she’s not blissfully happy with him. The questions circle endlessly, but each one makes my protective instincts scream louder. Skye is strong. Capable. Intelligent. She's survived three years married to a man who didn't deserve her even if she thought he did. She’s built a reputation as Luna of a powerful pack, earning respect from

As I get closer to the group, I see Cole only in gray sweatpants and that cause a slicing pain I my head. “She went this way” he drags a hand through his dark hair. “How did she make it past the barrier you made?” Skye asks Gryphon and confusing me. A barrier? “She is too powerful, has there been any other body parts?” I press a hand against my mouth. There was body parts. Gosh is my dream coming true? I just saw a brown wolf run and sit next to Cole. “No but I think we should be on guard tonight”
